The Sewing Mom

Okay, I was approved by Blog Catalog ,then this afternoon, they were doing site maintenance and now it says I’m waiting approval and my picture disappeared! This is the kind of stuff that keeps me off my computer! It’s the little things like this that drive me nuts! Guess I need to have more patience.

I have been tagged by Greg. I’ve never been tagged before, so I hope I do this correctly.

The Rules: “Each person posts the rules before their list, then they list 8 things about themselves. There you have it. And here are eight things about me:

1. I am currently a married stay at home mom of one daughter. I have two wonderful sisters and a super terrific mom with whom I am very close.

2. I recently learned how to quilt, a little bit. I made a pieced & quilted handbag and a baby quilt, with my mom’s suprevision! She is a super experienced, excellent quilter.

3. I love seafood, particularly shrimp (as long as it’s not the jumbo) and fried oysters.

4. I hate spiders and silverfish, basically bugs of any kind, especially if they’re in my house!

5. I am a country music fan, but I do like to listen to other genres as well.

6. My favorite thing I’ve ever created is the scrapbook I made of our trip to Disneyland. I got very creative and had almost as much fun working on that as I did visiting the theme park!

7. I have never lived in one state longer than 7 years, my entire life. I would really like to settle down!

8. I am totally new to the world of blogging and am feeling a bit intimidated by it all. Thank goodness I have a sister who is more experienced at this and is working hard to help me out!

I finally made it to Joann’s! And, even better, I discovered that they have a Viking store inside! Unfortunately, the Viking lady had just gone on a break. I wanted to sign up for the email newsletter and find out what classes they were offereing. Oh well, next time. My daughter was with me too and she’s not the most patient person waiting for me to buy fabric. I did buy a couple yards of flannel for the baby quilt I am supposed to make for my daughter-in-law. I also bought a couple marking pens/pencils. Everything was on sale, plus I had a %10 off purchase coupon, so I only wound up spending $15! That’s amazing for me!

We’re so excited!  The sun has finally come out and stayed out all day yesterday!  We got the yard mowed (had to go over it twice because it was so long) and a few errands and didn’t get wet!  We came home and spent the entire afternoon out by the pool.  My daughter had a friend over and it was fun just watching them play in the pool.  We have a pool slide and they were being extremely creative in finding different ways to come down the slide.  At one point I had to tell them that I do not yet know the way to the emergency room, so they needed to be just a little more careful! 

We went to a neighbors in the evening.  It was 85 at 10 pm, but they had a fire in their patio fire pit.  It was a bit hot out for that, but they made smores and the girls swam in their pool.  We had a really great day.  The sun is supposed to be out again today, but right now it is completely overcast.   If it does come out I plan on spending the day by the pool!  It is Sunday after all, a day of rest!
