Extreme Hot Temperatures in Texas
Well, we’re in day 5 of triple digit temperatures in North Texas. When it’s this hot you try to get on with your life as normal. Unfortunately, it’s becoming unbearable to go out the door. Morning temperatures are in the 80’s, so we start out the day hot and it just gets hotter. There has been no relief other than staying in doors with the a/c running. Of course, we will pay for this when the next electric bill shows up. We tried to get relief over the weekend by spending time in the swimming pool, however, the water temperature is now up to 92, so it doesn’t exactly feel too refreshing. There is not even the slightest little breeze to cool things down, it’s almost eary how calm it is outside. Mind you, with a new puppy in the house, one of us is having to go outside with the dog about every 15-20 minutes or so and we come back in feeling like we need another shower. The pool deck is about 100 degrees and the stone around the edge of the deck reached 110 on Sunday, so be sure to put shoes on before going out! I actually thought I was going to have to wear my flip flops into the pool to keep from burning the soles of my feet! I do not function well in the heat and currently have a rash over most of my body caused by sweating in the heat.
The good news? According to the local weather station, there is currently a tropical storm brewing in the Gulf of Mexico. Houston is all ready seeing rain from this storm and the Dallas area should see rain, along with cooler temperatures by Thursday evening and into Friday. By cooler temperatures I mean in the 90’s, which at the point I will be happy with! How are you staying cool this summer?
