More Back to School Shopping

My daughter began the 6th grade two weeks ago.  We did go clothes shopping before she started school, but you know how it goes, it was still in the 100’s when we were shopping, sort of hard to be in the mood to buy long sleeves and jeans.  So, she picked out a few short sleeve tops so she would have something new to begin the year and then we decided to wait and go shopping later.

Later was today!  It’s still been in the 90’s, but my daughter has said it’s been chilly inside the classrooms and was wanting some sort of light weight jacket to wear in class.  She found one in a catalog, but it was $39 and I have a hard time spending that kind of money on one piece of clothing for an 11 year old.  Heck, I have a hard time spending that much on an article of clothing for myself!

So, we headed first to the Aeropostle store at the outlet mall, about 10 minutes away.  She didn’t find a jacket, but she did get pajama bottoms, pajama shirt and a cute long sleeve shirt all for $36.  Pretty much everything in the store was half price, YAY!  She was disappointed in not finding a jacket though which was the main thing she wanted, so I offered to take her to Justice, a store for young girls.  Of course, she was all for it!

Upon entering Justice she was again disappointed, they just didn’t seem to have what she was looking for.  I’m not much help because our tastes are apparently different, but I suggested going next door to Old Navy.  She was reluctant, but agreed to go.  Mind you, when my daughter gets her mind set on something, she gets easily disappointed if she doesn’t find what she’s looking for.  We went straight to the girl department and actually found one lightweight knit jacket that she liked.  I was totally surprised by her choice, but it was very cute, a long sleeve, blue & gray stripe that zipped up the front.  Very cute and to my surprise, when we checked out at the register, it was on sale for $12!

We headed back to the van but had to walk right past Justice and decided to go back in to take another look.  Buying the jacket in Old Navy must’ve done the trick because she decided to try a few things on that were a little different than what she was originally looking for.  She wound up getting a black long sleeved knit jacket.  It was very basic and will look good with just about any colored shirt under it.  She also got a new pair of jeans, a short sleeved knit shirt and a cute tank top to go under it, all for $54!

We are both very happy with what she found today and I am even happier with the prices!  A successful day for the Sewingmom!
