The Sewing Mom

Are you a person that picks up pennies from the ground or do you pass them by?  I for one pick them up, pennies add up in a hurry.  My daughter recently bagged all her pennies from the penny bank in her room and turned them in to the bank.  I couldn’t believe it but she had almost $200! 

Have you heard the news about the redesign of the penny?  This will be celebrating the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln and the 100th anniversary since the 1st Lincoln penny was introduced.  The new pennies will be out in 2009 and will celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s life.  There will be a total of 4 new designs.  The front of the penny will remain the same as it is now, the new designs will rotate and replace the current design on the back of the penny which is the Lincoln Memorial.

The committee overseeing this project is having trouble finding designs it likes and so this is still up in the air.  Here are a couple of designs being considered.

Step #17 is to set up a BlogLog Widget on your site.  You’ll notice I have one in my right sidebar and I would guess a majority of bloggers use BlogLog, unless you are new to blogging.  If you don’t all ready use it, just go to BlogLog register and get your widget. It’s very easy to install, they provide you with the code.

I might be jumping ahead here, but I also like using BlogCatalog and also have their widget in my right sidebar. If you haven’t all ready done so, go to Blog Catalog to register and get your widget. I personally find blog catalogs social networking site easier to use, but I use them both.

These types of social networking sites are great ways to increase your traffic and find other bloggers with similar interests.

This is so funny and any mom will relate to this. A must see for all moms!

I have decided that rather than remove the plants by my driveway that suffered heat damage during out heat wave in August, I am going to use yard art to disguise them.  These plants are not dead, they are damaged and are trying to come back to a healthier state.  By spring they will be just fine.

To begin with, my sister had sent me a surprise gift of a yard flag.  I was thrilled!  Today I found a flag holder that I really liked, bought it and used it to start my disguise.  I am in search of some additional tasteful fall yard art that I will add to the area to distract from the plants that the Homeowner’s Association is not happy with.  I will update with pictures as I add to the area in question.
