Texas Heat

Texas Heat

It is so hot here, still.  No, it’s not in the 100’s like it was back in June and July, but it’s in the 90’s and still very humid.  It makes it very difficult to believe that it is Fall and October!  Halloween will be upon us before we know it and I have yet to start to make my daughter’s Halloween costume.

I got my hopes up yesterday, the local weatherman said a cool front was coming in for the weekend that would bring our daytime temperatures down to the 80’s.  Today, they changed their minds and said no, it will stay in the 90’s.  It wouldn’t actually be so bad if it still wasn’t so humid.  Just walking down to get the mail causes me to break into a sweat!

Guess I’ll just have to sit in the air conditioning and sew a costume.  At least my daughter probably won’t have to wear a big winter coat over it like she’s had to do in the past, living in the Midwest!

What part of Texas do you live in?

I spent 2 years in Killeen.

Hi Breezie - We’re just north of Dallas. It’s actually raining this morning, but still hot, supposed to get up to 91. At least the rain makes it LOOK cooler! :-D

It’s still hot here with no relief in site for the next week or two! I see that you are stitching up some Halloween costumes. I’m cruising around looking for cute costumes for my girls but most of the ones I’m finding will be too hot to wear if the weather doesn’t change! What’s a mom to do? Let them go as beach bunnies and Trick or Treat in their swimsuits? HA

Hope it cools down for you soon. We are in New England and they are saying 88 degrees for this weekend - last weekend it was 94! Unheard of this time of the year here.

Claire - I know what you mean! We moved here from Illinois and my daughter would get so mad when she would have to wear her coat over her costume and a couple years it was rainy too, but off we would go. In this heat I’m glad she chose a costume that she can wear any kind of shirt and pants under, in case the weather finally changes!

kml - I guess we are about 5 degrees above normal, although I don’t think the upper 80’s is much better than low 90’s! That is very unusual for New England, the weather all over has been just downright strange the last few years.
