Nail Hole Drywall Repair

I’m having to patch all of the walls in our house because the previous owners left hundreds of holes in each and every room of the house.  These holes were a result of picture hanging which seems pretty simple to fix except that the method the previous owners used to hang their pictures resulted in bigger holes than you could imagine.  Apparently they had never heard of picture hanging hooks, you know the type, that leave very small holes while being able to sustain the weight of even the largest framed works of art.  Instead these people used 3 inch carpenter nails!  All over the house, on every wall, and usually 10-20 per wall.  I really wasn’t planning on painting every single wall in the house, I actually like the colors as it stands now, but I can’t stand looking at all the holes!  Plus, when the would pull a nail out, they tended to pull drywall with it, so it left an even bigger hole.  Some of my furniture right now has been strategically placed to hide wall damage!

This is a nail I pulled out of the wall today.  nail
