side note:

The search engine ranking is left for the users to decide the fate of the engine. In the world of fast track internet marketing nothing is decided on the backend where web hosting is done the fortune is decided by the number of visitors leaving satisfied in the end. The cheap web hosting doesn’t go a long way and is only capable of playing a few cards right initially and then facing defeat internally due to cheap hosting. The cheap web hosting is no longer a solution to compete online.

Homemade Pot Holder

We just came off of a 4 day weekend and my daughter was so bored.  I had hoped that we could do some things over the weekend, but she wasn’t feeling 100% and I didn’t want her to become more ill than she was by wearing her out.  By Monday though, she was bored out of her mind.  We had played Life, Deal or No Deal, and Pente till I couldn’t play any of them anymore.  We read books and did work on the computer (learned how to upload video to YouTube!) and anything else we could think of that could be done quietly, without running all over town.

Finally, on Monday, we went to Hobby Lobby.  I had a coupon for 25% off of any kids activity kit, so I told her to take a look and pick something out.  She picked out a couple of things and then I showed her the old standby, the weaving loom.  It was only $3.99 and an extra large bag of pre-cut loops was a little bit more, so I talked her into getting it.  She didn’t really seem too excited about it but said she’d give it a try.

When we got home she got it out and wanted me to show her how to do it.  So, she chose her colors and we started creating together.  When she got all the loops on the loom I showed her how to finish it and when she got done she couldn’t believe it!  She was thrilled to see her finished product.  She knew it was a pot holder, but decided it could also be used as a coaster.  She plans on making more for me to have a set and now, she’s even making them for her friends back in Illinois.  She even went to bed last night making one.  I think if she hadn’t been so tired she would’ve stayed up to finish it!

This is the first one she made.  pot-holder.jpg

Grandfather Clocks and Mantel Clocks

clock.jpg
This is the grandfather clock I inherited from my Grandmother about twenty years ago, it is a Ridgeway clock. I’ve always loved having it and whenever we have visitors, they always comment on its looks and how beautiful the chimes are. It’s a very simple clock with beautiful chimes, something I will always treasure. Since owning the grandfather clock, I’ve been interested in getting a mantel clock similar to the one I found at Howard Miller clocks which looks like this:

and I would place it on the mantel in our family room. It has a very similar look and feel to it that my grandfather clock has. I think with its beautiful wood trim and brass face it would make a wonderful addition and compliment the rest of the furnishings in the room.

Since we moved into this house in April I’ve been trying my best to decorate the walls and rooms using furnishings and decor I all ready own. This is not always easy because the rooms are different shapes and the walls are different colors than the house we moved from. Not everything fits where you think it should. Of course, I could have used an interior decorator to help me out, but I tend to enjoy moving things around on my own. Whenever we’ve moved to a new home, my grandfather clock is usually one of the first things to find it’s new spot and when I hear it chiming, I feel instantly at home, no matter where we’ve lived.

Someday, I wouldn’t mind finding a clock that will fit in with our T.V. room decor upstairs. I could have a chiming clock in just about every room of the house and I would be happy. My husband is a collector of fine watches and I think clocks, whether it be grandfather clocks, mantel clocks or even wall clocks, are a logical extension of that, something I can enjoy each and every day.

A Beautiful Day Out in Texas

Finally, a day I can actually say is beautiful outside!  The temperature this morning was in the mid 60’s and very little humidity!  I even had to put on a light weight jacket to go out with the dog this morning!  I was thinking it was never going to cool down around here.

I believe the high is supposed to be in the 80’s today, but since the humidity is down it doesn’t feel too bad.  I’m going to try to get out and mow the yard later.  With my husband being out of town I have to take care of that.  I’m thinking if I wait long enough, my daughter can mow the back yard on the riding mower when she gets home from school.  She earns money from me when she mows, so she might want to do it!

My motto for the day:  Enjoy the day!

In Need of a Short Break

It’s times like these, when I don’t feel well and can’t seem to get myself motivated to do anything around the house, that I know I could use a short break.  It doesn’t need to be a long Tropical holiday, a simple weekend break would do the trick.

It would be wonderful to just make one simple phone call to express my wishes and have someone else find my flights, hotel and rental car. I would just need to pack. It would be great if I could find cheap flights to New York and go take in a Broadway show and a nice dinner. Of course a nice spa holiday might be just what I need to get rid of all this sinus pressure in my head. I can just imagine a wonderful massage, and another, and another, and another. Of course, all of that would include wonderful room service and meals that I don’t have to cook! I’m starting to feel better all ready!

Sinus Headaches

Not sure if it’s the temperature change or the reduction in the level of humidity, but I have the worst sinus headache this morning.  I woke up with it during the night.  Not that I was getting any sleep with all the coughing my daughter was doing, which I think may have added to the pain.

So when the alarm went off this morning I totally ignored it.  I heard the clock in the main hall chime 7  so I woke my daughter up and I got up & threw on some sweats.  I took some sinus pills for the headache and pressure on my face, we’ll see if it helps.
