This is the grandfather clock I inherited from my Grandmother about twenty years ago, it is a Ridgeway clock. I’ve always loved having it and whenever we have visitors, they always comment on its looks and how beautiful the chimes are. It’s a very simple clock with beautiful chimes, something I will always treasure. Since owning the grandfather clock, I’ve been interested in getting a
mantel clock similar to the one I found at
Howard Miller clocks which looks like this:

and I would place it on the mantel in our family room. It has a very similar look and feel to it that my grandfather clock has. I think with its beautiful wood trim and brass face it would make a wonderful addition and compliment the rest of the furnishings in the room.
Since we moved into this house in April I’ve been trying my best to decorate the walls and rooms using furnishings and decor I all ready own. This is not always easy because the rooms are different shapes and the walls are different colors than the house we moved from. Not everything fits where you think it should. Of course, I could have used an interior decorator to help me out, but I tend to enjoy moving things around on my own. Whenever we’ve moved to a new home, my grandfather clock is usually one of the first things to find it’s new spot and when I hear it chiming, I feel instantly at home, no matter where we’ve lived.
Someday, I wouldn’t mind finding a clock that will fit in with our T.V. room decor upstairs. I could have a chiming clock in just about every room of the house and I would be happy. My husband is a collector of fine watches and I think clocks, whether it be grandfather clocks, mantel clocks or even wall clocks, are a logical extension of that, something I can enjoy each and every day.
