6th Floor Museum
We had an interesting day yesterday. It was my husband’s friend birthday, so we met him and his girlfriend down in the West End of Dallas for some lunch. It was an absolutely beautiful day in Dallas, clear skies and in the low 70’s. We found a local restaurant with a nice patio and sat outside in the sunshine enjoying a wonderful meal together.
After lunch we meandered around the area, unfortunately, most of the shops aren’t open on the weekends, something that really surprises me. Eventually, we decided to walk a few blocks over to see [tag]The Grassy Knoll[/tag] and visit the [tag]6th Floor Museum[/tag] at Dealy Plaza. For anyone who doesn’t know, this is the building where Lea Harvey Oswald fired his shot from that killed [tag]President John F. Kennedy[/tag].
There is a fee to tour the museum, but it includes an audio tour. The tour itself is very interesting and there is an eary feeling knowing you are standing in a place that had such a dramatic change on American history and even the World. My 11 year old daughter felt the same way and I think it really gave her a good understanding of what was going on in our country during that time and why he was so valued as a President.
It took us a couple of hours to complete the tour and visit the gift shop before heading home. A very nice way to spend a Saturday.
