Holiday Lighting

Holiday Lighting

We were out shopping on Sunday for Halloween decorations. We’re always running behind when it comes to getting our decorations out, so we tend to get there when the products are sold out. I’m trying to plan ahead though for Christmas.

When we relocated back in April I think I recall just tossing out our entire box of Christmas lights. I get so tired of watching my husband, every year, spending hours going through that box figuring out which light strands work and which ones don’t. Then, eventually, he’ll get strands that he thinks are working put onto the tree, only to plug in and find out they don’t all work. Then he’s frustrated. I just felt that it was about time to start fresh.

This year I think we’re going to go with the LED mini lights for our tree. They’re very energy efficient and last about 25 times longer than the standard incandescent bulbs. They’re also much safer because they don’t burn hot like the older bulbs do. I’m not going to wait around until they’re all sold out either, I’m getting these early!

Busy Day

I feel like today I need to have a revolving door installed, I’ve been in and out so much and I’m not done yet.  There are so many after school activities going on right now that we had to temporarily move my daughter’s guitar lesson to Monday nights at 7:30.  I really don’t like this.  After dinner I like to just put on my pajamas and relax.  Not tonight.  We have to leave and go to her lesson.  Plus, I don’t like driving at night, my eyes don’t do well at night and it makes me nervous.

Oh well, hopefully we’ll get back to a more normal schedule for us in a couple of weeks.  It’s not helping tonight either that I’m so tired.  I just didn’t sleep well last night.  I’m hoping to sleep like a rock tonight!

Plastic Surgery Anyone?

I was just sitting here watching the news and they showed where the FDA is allowing a study to be done in New York State on teens having gastric-bypass surgery. I realize many of these kids lack self-confidence and have other issues due to their weight problems, but I have to wonder if they’ve been taught how to eat healthy in the first place. They also have to deal with peer pressure and all that available fast food. I’m not sure what the right answer is and I realize too that some people, no matter how healthy they might eat, cannot lose the weight.

Now go to the other coastline of the U.S. and find what may be the capital of plastic surgery. Perhaps because a huge part of the entertainment industry is there, but I imagine that just about any type of plastic surgery you could imagine having done, could be done in L.A. Maybe you’re looking to get a Los Angeles facelift to remove some wrinkles or lift some jowls. Or how about a weight loss plan that includes liposuction Beverly Hills style. The nice thing about having any type of surgery done in Los Angeles is that chances are, your recovery will be done in a nice warm, sunny climate. Maybe you could even go recuperate while sitting on the beach, now that would be a great way to go through any surgical recovery!

Typically we hear about breast enlargement, but many women look to Los Angeles breast reduction as an option. This can help many women with serious back pain issues. This is possibly one of the more medically necessary plastic surgeries.  Of course, I’m not a medical doctor and don’t claim to know anything about these surgeries.  I do know that sometimes they are medically necessary and sometimes they are done for other reasons.  What about you?  Would you ever consider having any type of plastic surgery?

NW Texas Weather

I just wanted to take a moment to say how wonderful the weather is here in NW Texas today!  We’ve had some very nice days over the past week, but most have been quite windy.  Today, the wind is very calm, in fact, there is very little, if any, breeze at all.  The sun is shining, there is not a cloud in the sky.  It is absolutely a picture perfect day.

I was just outside with our little dog Plinko and it felt so good to be in the sunshine.  In fact, she has opted to stay outside, even though I know she really wants to take a nap, it just feels so good out there.  She’s laying on the patio, in the sun, just relaxing.  Not something you see a 5 month old puppy do very often!  I think I may just have to go back outside and join her.

I hope the weather is as beautiful whereever you may be.  :-D

Daily Scheduling

One of the things I need to get the 6th grade Destination Imagination team to do is come up with a practice schedule. They need to know when tournaments are and there are also some workshops it would be nice if they could attend and they could put those on their schedule. I’ve been thinking about getting each team member a calendar, maybe even something they could keep little notes in about the meetings.

If I start taking pictures of the team right away I could create a custom Photo Calendar for each one to use. It would make a great memento for them as well. I could probably even use the coupon code “FreeCalendar07″ to create a free wall calendar for the teacher who is assisting me with the school’s DI program. She is so enthusiastic about this program and I know she would love it, especially if I could get pictures of the teams put on the calendar.

I’m thinking these would make great holiday gifts and they’re so simple to create. Think I’ll take my digital camera with me to the team meeting this afternoon and get started on those pictures!

Destination Imagination - Here We Go Again!

We managed to recruit a mom to be a Team Manager of a 3rd grade team.  So today I did my little presentation in front of 85 3rd graders explaining what Destination Imagination is and how they can be involved.  We are holding tryouts for them next Monday, it will be interesting!

This afternoon I will be holding the first team meeting for the 6th grade team.  It will be interesting to see how they are reacting to being the “chosen ones”.  It will be a short one hour meeting to get the ball rolling and get a meeting schedule in place.  I’m a bit nervous, but I know things will turn out well in the end.  :-D
