The Blender
Two years ago my girlfriend gave me a smoothie maker for my birthday. I have used it – to make fruit smoothies for the kids. I really haven’t found another use for it although it does an excellent job of crushing ice. It made me think how good it would be at making mixed drinks that require a blender. Problem is, I’m no bartender, not even close. When I want a mixed drink I have to go out to a bar or restaurant to get one. Alcohol is expensive, but even more so when you have to have someone else make your drink for you. Not to mention, if I’m out having a drink, I can only have one or I will need a designated driver. I’d much rather relax at home and still be able to enjoy my drink.
Since I’ve never been to bartending school and I’ve never really payed too much attention to what in a drink, only to how it tastes, I decided that in order to take better advantage of my smoothie maker and put it to even better use, I would do some online research and figure out how to start making alcoholic beverages at home.
I managed to find a drink database with almost 9,000 drink recipes! If you don’t know how to make it you can probably find it here. Plus, if you come up with your own recipe you can list it here for others to find. I even noticed where people were looking for recipes of vodka drinks that they’d had at specific restaurants.
So, I think I’ll take advantage of it being the beginning of the weekend and get my smoothie maker out of the box and start mixing!
