Next Home DIY Project

Now that I’m getting my kitchen looking the way I want it I’m trying to decide what my next project will be. I’ve got some painting to do, I always have painting to do, but I’m thinking I might want to do my closet and my daughter’s closet. My closet won’t be too bad, it’s a walk in and is layed out very nicely. I would just like to organize all the stuff that’s on the shelves, hats, sweaters, shoes, etc. My daughter’s closet is a bit bigger challenge. It’s sort of a walk in, with just one rod and one shelf. I need to take those down and start over, maybe raise the shelf, add another and do double rods. The similar task will be to organize all the stuff that’s on the shelf.

I’ve looked at those clear storage boxes in different stores, but although I like that they’re clear, I’m not sure that they’ll be too convenient when they’re all stacked up. My luck I’ll want whatever is in the bottom box! I found something else though that looks like an even better option. These are called pods and they interlock when they’re on the shelf. The difference is that when you remove one, all of the others stay in place. Then, when you’re done, you just slide the pod back into place, sort of like a drawer. There are no tools required, the pods just slide in and out. The pods come in different size such as shoe organizer and sweater sizes that all work together. This gives easy access to everything stored inside.

My daughter doesn’t have a dresser, so all of her pajamas and things are folded on the floor of her closet. I would like to put in double shelves and double rods and use these pods as a way of organizing everything that doesn’t hang. I think I need to make her closet the next project on the DIY priority list, I know she’ll appreciate it.

Proceeds from PPP

To those of you who subscribe to and read my site via RSS feed, I apologize for posting so much lately.  There has just been so much going on and I enjoy sharing it on my site.  I’ve also had quite a number of really decent opportunities for paid posts in the past week, perhaps because I finally have a PR, but it’s been difficult for me to not take those opportunities.  Because I know I have some loyal friends and readers here I want to show you what I used my PPP money for that I earned in October.  I also want to say that it felt really good to see the look on my husband’s face today when I was able to pay for this on my own.  Maybe now he won’t roll his eyes quite so much when I am typing away on my computer.

By the way, I am currently working on another site.  It’s having some technical issues, but I’m hoping to get it up and running smoothly soon.  Once it’s qualified, I won’t have to do so many paid posts on this site.  I hope you all can be patient with me.

So, here is what I bought today at a fabulous price.  I am very excited about it and love it in our kitchen.  Our previous table looked great in our previous house, but seemed too small for this kitchen.  Tonight we moved the old one upstairs to become a game table in the game/t.v. room.  The new table has a total of six chairs, there are only four in the picture, the other two we have set by the island in the kitchen.  Also, at the bottom of the table is a hidden drawer for storage.  The table leaf is folded and stored inside the table itself which I think is very cool.

Bargain Shopping

I feel like I’m on a roll. We just got such a fabulous deal on our new kitchen table, I can’t wait until my husband has it all placed in the kitchen so I can take a picture to share. On the drive down to Forney though he was telling me that his all-in-one printer is acting up. Seems the scanner isn’t wanting to work anymore. It’s probably five or six years old, and has been used pretty heavily in that time. He used to work from home, so everything he printed, which was a lot, came off that printer. It’s probably just worn out.

Now it’s time to begin looking for good discount computers and printers. I like to find bargains, but I still like to be able to do product comparisons, I want to know exactly what I’m buying and what features it has before I buy it, especially when it comes to tech items. Customer reviews are helpful too.

I think it’s cool that I can actually submit a deal request which gives www.techbargains.com a general idea of what I am shopping for and they email me a link to the lowest priced item they find, in other words, the best deal. Save me so much time doing that research myself. I can also sign up to receive a weekly email newsletter that tells me the best deals of the week.

When I decide exactly what I want to buy and where I want to buy it from I can also get coupon and rebate information, all on the same site. Again, saves me time. The website is very easy to use, I can quickly navigate to whatever page I am looking for, yet again, saving me time. So, I’m off to find a deal on a new printer.

Great Day

We had a really fun day today.  We met some friends in Forney, TX which is supposed to be the antique capital of Texas.  Well, it may have been at one time, but there weren’t too many antique stores today, although there were a few.  There were some other neat shops in their place though and it turned out good for us.

I walked into a furniture store and the first thing I saw was a kitchen table with 6 chairs.  It was one of those higher tables, sort of bar table height.  It was really cool, and cheap!  The store owner said he buys closes out furniture by the truckload from Highpoint, NC and bring it to sell at huge discounts.  He wasn’t kidding.  This table is solid, very heavy, nice wood.  In the base is a hidden drawer for storing linens.  Also, it separates to reveal a leaf to make the table even larger.  The table leaf stores inside the table itself!  How cool is that?

Anyway, my husband is carrying it in now, we got the table and 6 chairs in our big van and drove home.  The guy dropped $160 off the price which we all ready thought was low.  When he took even more off we were sold.  I’ll take pictures once it’s set up.

Working From Home

We have friends that recently completed a major move and, surprisingly, neither one of them had jobs lined up when they made the decision to move. It’s been about six months, and neither one has found profitable employment. They are both doing things here and there, but I know they would be so happy if they could find something lucrative that would ensure financial stability.

I’m thinking about recommending that they both look into this unique opportunity to work from home with Courtney Raymond Consultants. This financial recruiting company has been around for about 10 years and works at placing financial brokers with Merrill Lynch. Recruiting for one of the largest financial companies in the world could prove to be quite lucrative, exactly what our friends need. Plus, it would allow them to work from home, something I know they both would like to do.

Working from home does require discipline, but it also gives you the chance to work your own hours, basically running your own business with the advantage of being backed by Courtney Raymond Consultants. They even provide free professional training, free leads and free backend support. There is nothing to buy. They don’t even require prior recruiting experience. Just about the only requirement is that you possess good phone etiquette and communication skills as well as a desire to earn money.

I’m thinking this may be just what our friends need to get them back on track financially.
