Traveling

Traveling

My husband is beginning his travel schedule again. The next two weeks he won’t be too far, Alabama, but in December he’ll be traveling to Brussels, Ireland and Hungary. He will have quite a busy schedule and I can tell he’s not really looking forward to it. All this international travel is more exhausting than enjoyable when it’s all for work and no time to get out and see anything.

Hopefully though his meetings will be even better than planned and maybe then he’ll get a day or two of to go see some sites. He has been to Ireland and Brussels before on business, but never to Hungary. I imagine there is fascinating history in all of those countries. If he knew in advance that he would have some time he could visit a European based travel service to set some things up for him. He could probably even find some last minute deals.

I find it interesting to compare the places that residents of the U.S. choose to visit to those places that Europeans choose to go. When we think of going to Europe, we think London, Paris, and Madrid among others. But those people who live there go the other direction. Yes, they visit the U.S., but they go places that never really enter my mind for a vacation, like Cuba. I think we in the U.S. always hear negative things about this country, but I also understand they have beautiful beaches, it is an island after all. Europeans are looking for cheap Cuba holidays while we’re looking for cheap European holidays.

I find it so interesting that we all see things so differently, depending on where we are from.

Dining Out

Last night we opted to go out to dinner, I had run out of ideas of things to cook and wanted a change of pace.  My daughter was wanting bbq and my husband was wanting a steak.  He had been to a Texas themed restaurant a couple of weeks ago for a business dinner and thought we would enjoy it so that’s where we decided to go.

The name of the restaurant is Love and War in Texas!  Very interesting and I must say, very well done.  There was a lot of Texas memorabilia around the restaurant but it was all very tastefully done.  The food ranged from beef, chicken and fish to oysters and shrimp.  Everything was cooked with a somewhat Texas flair, cayenne pepper, fried, etc.  The sides were really good, black beans, slaw, etc.

I ordered fried shrimp and oysters which came with slaw, all very good.  My husband had a flat iron steak with an enchilada and beans, he really liked it.  My daughter had a steak (I forget which one) with baked potato, corn on the cob and black eyed peas.  It was all delicious, she ate it all!  As an appetizer we ordered nachos and they were some of the best we’d ever had.  I’ll definitely be wanting to go back there.

Search Engine Marketing

Since I began blogging back in July, I’ve learned so much about the internet. Unfortunately for me, there is so much more to learn, particularly about Search Engine Marketing. I for one have attempted to monatize my site without causing it to be inundated with Pay Per Click advertising. I’ve visited sites where the header and sidebars are nothing but ads and it really does turn me off. I’ve actually seen a couple of sites today that I couldn’t figure out if there was any actual content or if it was all advertising, yuck!

For someone like me who is continuing to learn as I go, I have found an SEO Glossary that is very helpful. I know that I have a long way to go, but there are many people, some professional, that can help me on my internet journey.

Sleepless In Seattle

Sleepless in Seattle is one of my all time favorite movies.  I’m watching it now and I just love it.  I’m cleaning house while I watch it, but it’s such that I can hear the lines and can visualize the scenes in the movie I’ve seen it so many times.  This is a movie when Rosie O’Donnell was still likable and her character is funny.  Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are perfect in their roles and that little boy, he’s so cute!

What are you doing today?
