Finding a Mortgage

Finding a Mortgage

I’ve always gone the traditional route whenever we’ve purchase a house. I call a lender, get quotes, fees, rates and then call another lender, if I feel like it. It’s called competitive shopping. It can really pay off, but it also takes a lot of time. In the last few years mortgage services have come on the scene offering competition between lenders who want your business. I’ve always been a bit leery of these offers because I don’t want a bunch of banks and lender having my phone number. They end up just making sales calls to your house and I’m not sure that’s what I want.

NameYourLoan.com, America's 1st Online Mortgage Auction is different. The borrower provides information online and lenders will bid for their business. It’s all handled online so there are no annoying sales calls to your phone. This sounds like something I would certainly look into if I were in the market for a mortgage today.

The following is a press release explaining their service.

NameYourLoan.com Diversifies Current Lending Environment for Borrowers with New Approach to Online Mortgage Loans.

New online mortgage auction site, NameYourLoan.com, has revolutionized the way borrowers obtain mortgage loans online. As a unique and creative online community, borrowers can easily connect with the best mortgage lenders while lenders benefit from a wealth of real time mortgage leads and opportunities for business growth.

(PRWEB) – In today’s tough lending environment, littered with deceitful lenders and cunning tactics, it’s high time for a revolutionary tool that can empower borrowers yet still benefit lenders. NameYourLoan.com has answered the need with the launch of a new online mortgage auction site designed to give consumers access to an increasing mortgage lenders network to ultimately obtain great online mortgage loans.
“For centuries, auctions have been the most efficient and effective way to get the best deals in everything,” says Al Salahi, President and CEO of NameYourLoan.com. “Why not have auctions for all mortgage loan types?”
NameYourLoan.com is an online community where borrowers can easily connect with the best mortgage lenders. Lenders compete with one another in an online auction to win the borrower’s business. As numerous lenders submit loan offers, the site enables consumers to see “apples to apples”, compare mortgage interest rates and achieve the lowest rate mortgage online such as the best home equity loan rate or home refinance loan.
The site’s sophisticated computer system compiles and calculates all the information submitted by lenders (interest rates, points, fees, terms, etc.) and then ranks loan offers, based on their true worth relative to the borrower’s stated preferences (lowest rate, lowest fees or best combination of rates and fees). This simplified process gives borrowers a coherent presentation of information without having to do the math themselves.
Unlike other online mortgage comparison shopping services, only those lenders who come out at the top of the auction with the lowest interest rates and fees get a chance at the borrower’s business. Moreover, borrowers can invite their friend or relative lender to participate in the borrower’s auction quickly and without cost. Lenders who refuse to participate are most likely high priced and not the best mortgage lenders.
“Through advanced technology, we are starting to make haggling and deceptive lending tactics a thing of the past,” explains Salahi. “At the same time, we are transforming a generally stressful and complicated process into a very pleasant and easy experience for borrowers. Our multiple bid auction format, coupled with constant consumer feedback, will make it easy for us to weed out dishonest lenders—and hopefully put them out of business!”
Use of NameYourLoan.com is completely free for borrowers. Borrowers are under no obligation to accept any of the online mortgage loans offered in the auction. To protect against identity theft and fraud, site users are never asked for sensitive information, and lenders that receive multiple consumer complaints will be barred from future auctions.

They’re Coming!

Oh, I guess I didn’t mention that when my Mom and sister leave tomorrow, they are headed my way!  They will be stopping by to visit for a couple of days on their way to Arizona.  This means that I really need to get busy and finish the holiday decorating among other things.  Let’s see, let me do a quick list of what needs to get done before they get here.

1.  Put up or put away remainder of holiday decorations.

2.  Clean up sewing room, someone will need to sleep on the daybed that is in there.

3.  Find bedding for guest bedroom, possibly still packed in a moving box.

4. Clean my room, stack of clothes due to my daughter cleaning out her closet!

5. Get some groceries.  At least some snack foods!

If I can get those items accomplished I’ll feel good about it.  I’m not going to be home at all tomorrow though because I’m scheduled to go Christmas shopping all day with my girlfriend.  Guess that means I best get busy!

Hotel Reservations

Okay, now that I’ve got my sister’s airline ticket booked I can start looking at Hotel Reservations for her & my mom as they drive out to Arizona. My mom has a little dog that travels with her so it’s important to find hotels that accept pets.

Normally my mom drives by herself with her dog and she typically decides to stop driving around dinner time. She’ll find a hotel, check in and then go find a place to eat. It helps her relax knowing she has a room to go back to. Once though, she had trouble finding a room, it was late, and dark, and the hotels were all booked up for some reason. I’m thinking it’s not a bad idea to lay out a plan on the map of how far she wants to drive in a day and then book the hotel in advance.

If we book her a room online, we can get competitive rates and know in advance that the hotel will allow her little dog. She can still use her military discount or her senior citizen discount online and I think we would all feel better knowing that she’s not out hunting for a place to sleep on her way to and from AZ.

Booking Airfare

I just finished booking online a one-way airline ticket for my sister.  I’ve purchased many airline tickets online in the past, but I found today to be quite interesting because the fares were changing right before my eyes!

My sister is driving out to Arizona with my Mom so that our mom doesn’t have to drive by herself.  To get home, she needs to fly and she gets very stressed about the whole flying ordeal.  So, I offered to help her find a flight.  We’ve been doing this for several weeks now and she finally decided on a date to fly home.  I checked fares yesterday and they had actually come down from a few weeks ago so I told her she should go ahead and book it.

Well, I got busy doing other things yesterday and didn’t get back with her to book the flight.  She called me this morning anxious about it and so I got right on the computer and looked up the fares using the same websites I had used before.  The fares were much higher, in some cases, sever hundred dollars higher.  What was really strange though was that I found if I closed a site and went back into it, it would bring up different fares!  I’ve never had that happen before, very strange.

Anyway, I did finally find her a good flight at only $20 more than what I found yesterday and so we booked it.  The only thing that makes me nervous is that I booked it through a website I’ve never used before and so I’m hoping there will be no problems.
