Plinko the Goat - Part 2

posted in Puppy News |

What goes in must come out; this is a very true statement, and whatever a goat… I mean dog eats, must come out, one way or another.  This is a rather gross post, so if you’re easily disgusted, you may want to skip over this one!

Plinko went out to do her business today while I was doing the dishes in the kitchen.  She came to the back door as she always does and so my mom, who is visiting, opened the door to let her in.  What happened next happened so fast, you have to imagine us flying around the kitchen as if in a time warp!

I noticed right away that Plinko had something hanging off her behind, so, because my hand were in the dish water, I hollered at my mom that I thought it was poop.  Sure enough, it was, a big 4 inch length of poop hanging out of the dog’s butt.   Plinko promptly sat her butt down on the nice new quilt that had fallen of the back of the couch and was about to rub to try to remove it when my mom grabbed hold of her to catch her.  In the mean time, I had dried my hands and grabbed paper towels.

I quick wrapped the paper towels around the hanging turd and began to pull… and pull… and pull.  I felt like a magician who pulls handkerchiefs out of his sleeve, it just kept coming out.  It reached a point that my mom & I were both laughing and now I had tears coming out of my eyes making it difficult to see because I was laughing so hard!  What I wound up slowly pulling out was about a 12 inch shoe string!  It was so disgusting!  But, that wasn’t all, oh no.  There were also a couple of those loops that my daughter uses to make her potholders on those plastic looms.   Unfortunately, I didn’t see the 3 inch plastic needle that my daughter was sewing with last night that disappeared, so that may be tomorrow’s excitement.

Following this episode, Plinko has slept most of the afternoon.  I think the entire ordeal wore her out.  Although, several times we’ve pulled small toys out of her mouth today.  I’m not really sure where she’s finding this stuff, we’ve tried really hard to keep things picked up where she can’t get to them, but obviously there is stuff somewhere that she is finding.

I guess the good news is that at least it came out of her without having to go to the vet to have it removed.  That still amazed me how long it was!  I apologize if I have grossed anyone out, but it was a story I felt had to be told.

    Wow - that’s truly disgusting.

I’ve had a few instances - especially recently of my dog eating things he shouldn’t. He usually sticks to paper products which, while not desirable to me…tend to come out without too much trouble.

But, it’s his first Christmas and he’s absolutely fascinated with all the decorations we brought up from storage - to the point that he ate a few “petals” off my fake poinsettia plant.

Was doing some searching to see, in short, what happens when dogs eat things beyond their normal kibble. And, well, I came across your site - and am thrilled to know what I have to look forward to, if I ever see a shoe without laces :-)

    Thanks for sharing this one…

Jessica - I’ve never had a dog that eats the items this dog eats! I was sitting here this morning thinking I need to have a basket where I can put everything I take away from her in a single day. Then when my daughter gets home from school she can see how busy her dog has been!
We try really hard to make sure things are picked up and yet she still finds items to chew on. This morning I took away a cloth key chain (I have no idea where she found it) and a plastic Barbie doll dress that she chewed the arms off of. At least I found the arms so I know she didn’t swallow them!
I have her in her crate right now as I type so that she can’t get hold of anything else, at the moment!
    Thanks for visiting! :-D
