Christmas Crafts

posted in sewing |

I guess it was good that my mom and sister were here for a few days.  Not only because I loved having them here and visiting with them, but also because they are both avid sewers.  My mom is a fantastic quilter and my sister has been so busy making bags and purses.  Of course we had to go the the fabric store and quilt shop while they were here and I guess that was the inspiration I needed to get busy.  I’ve all ready posted pictures of the bag I made and yesterday I made an advent calendar.  This was my first time to do something like this and it was really fun.  I did all the top stitching in a gold metallic thread and it really sparkles.  It’s difficult to see it in this picture, but the tops of all of the little pockets I did a snowflake top stitch in the metallic thread.  I’m hoping to go back to the quilt shop tomorrow to get more of the calendar fabric, it was all on clearance.

Well Grace, I’m going to the quilt shop tomorrow and we’ll see if I can find fabric I like for 6 11 year olds! I only have until next Thursday, so that pattern better be easy for me to figure out! LOL

Fatiah – I’m definitely using the machine now! It’s been months since I’ve sewn anything at all. I’ve just started another advent calendar, have it cut out and will sew it later today. My mom & sister are gone now so I’m sewing to keep myself busy so I won’t miss them so much.

This is gorgeous. I really wish I had time to do crafts. I love to make hand work and last years I even started some decoupage works but time is definitely not on my side. Good job…it’s really beautiful.

Thank you very much Laura! I have to make myself get started on these sewing projects, but once I get started, I can’t stop! I love to sew, I don’t know why it’s so difficult for me to get started. I think I don’t really enjoy cutting out the fabric and that’s step 1. Once I get past that I’m okay. :-D

Kat – Thanks very much! This particular design was a lot of fun to make. It also has a small flaw in the stitching at the bottom that causes a small pucker in the seam and so is for sale for only $15 if you’re interested.
