Spam Protection

posted in blogging |

In my efforts to reduce the amount of spam that this site is receiving I now have two spam plug-ins installed. The first, [tag]Akismet[/tag] has been installed from the very beginning of this blogs existance. Unfortunately, I still have to go in and manually delete everything that lands in the [tag]spam[/tag] folder. I tend to at least try to glance at it before deleting it because occasionally, a valid comment will land in the spam folder and I would hate to delete it. So, it is a slower process than I would like.

Today, I added the [tag]math comment spam protection[/tag] plug-in. I found this nifty plug in at WordpressGarage.com, where she lists the [tag]50 best Wordpress plugins[/tag] and I am looking at a couple of others on that list for future use.

So, I apologize for the extra step it takes to leave a comment, but I’m hoping it will cut down on the spambots!  I’m also hoping this will allow me to turn off comment moderation.

Hi – thanks for visiting WordPressGarage. Just wanted to tell you that the “he” you mentioned is actually a “she” – me!

Miriam! I am so sorry! I have corrected my post to read “she” instead of “he”, that’s what I get for assuming! I really do like your site, it’s always full of good information and this list of 50 is really great. Thanks again!

That’s ok – I’ve done the same thing to another blogger.

I’m really glad you like my site!
