In Need of Some Heat
This morning when I took my daughter to school, it was 25 degrees F. outside! I actually had to pull the ice scraper out and scrape the ice off of the windshield of the van! Good thing we moved from the Midwest or I probably wouldn’t even own an ice scraper! It is warming up, supposed to get into the 50 this afternoon.
Now, the funny thing is, last weekend it was in the 80’s here in the Dallas area. This weather has gone up and down so much I can’t figure out if I’m supposed to dress for the cold or not. I have been able to conclude one thing for sure though and that is that when it’s chilly in our house, it’s freezing cold by my computer.
You see, I have a desk nook in the center of the house. I really like having it there, very centralized, easy to get to. I have my desktop computer set up there and it’s from here that I pay all my bills, do a lot of my blogging, and generally try to keep myself organized. The problem I discovered, is that there is not a single vent in the area of my desk. So, when the heater is warming other areas of the house, no warm air is being directed towards me and my desk. I sit there freezing and my hands feel like ice. I have sat there all this morning and have my coat on to keep warm. If I didn’t have my socks and sneakers on, my toes would be frozen off.
I’m looking into vent free heaters and thinking that I might need to invest in something like this for this space. It would also come in handy if we lose power in the winter time as it could be used for emergency heating. I think it could save me on my utility bills too because I find myself turning up the heat to try to get some warm air in my little area! I don’t think it looks too bad either. What do you think?
