Sewing Gifts
I’ve mentioned before that I am the Team Manager for our 6th grade Destination Imagination team and that our team consists of entirely girls. So, I decided to put my sewing skills to work over the past week and I made each one of them a little “zipper” bag. These are so easy. By the time I made the last one, I had it down to about an hour to make one, start to finish, including cutting out the fabric.
When I first saw this bag and I thought it would be difficult because of the zipper. Not true. The way the zipper is put in is the easiest I’ve ever seen. I love to top stitch too, so I got to do quite a bit of that. If you’re really in a hurry, that step could be left off. Each bag ends up being about 8″x10″ and has a shoulder strap.
My sister does some quilting on the “zipper” bags she’s been making. They’ve been coming out really pretty too. I opted to not quilt these. Each one was different except that I had two of the blue/brown patterned ones. It’s just the way it worked out. I put them each in a gift bag with tissue paper and told the girls to pick a bag. They had to open them at the same time and then I said they were welcome to swap with each other if they wanted to. Not one of them swapped, it was great! They wore them over their shoulders the entire meeting!
So, this is what I’ve been up to lately.
