Was the Zoo Tiger Set Free?

Was the Zoo Tiger Set Free?

A Siberian tiger at the San Francisco Zoo “escaped” from it’s enclosure, killing one and mauling several others.  The tiger was shot to death by police.  What makes this entire event even more sad is that right now, investigators believe that someone may have actually set the tiger loose.  The zoo director is disputing this saying the tiger must have leapt out of her enclosure.  This would have been quite a feat, an 20 foot leap across a moat and over an 18 foot wall.  Keeping in mind that tigers kept in captivity are not in the same kind of physical shape as a tiger in the wild, this would have been virtually impossible.  It would have been difficult enough for a cat in the wild to accomplish.

I find this to be so heartbreaking.  Siberian tigers are endangered and need our help to survive.  Something went terribly wrong in this case.

Celebrating a New Search Engine

I’m always on the lookout for ways to search the Internet and a new search engine is ready to launch on Monday called Earthfrisk. This site will combine all the best results from the major search engines, including Google, MSN and Yahoo, giving results with far less spam. Earthfrisk will even have its own new ranking system plus toolbars for both IE and Firefox.

As a blogger who has been Google-smacked, I look forward to the release of this new search engine.  Farewell Google!

After Christmas Shopping

Are you hitting the stores today?  I think my husband actually wants to go shopping, but I’m not one for crowds, so I’m stalling!

I think we’re going to go have some breakfast and then maybe go to a couple of stores.  We need to get my daughter a helmet to go with her new electric scooter (pictures to come later) and I need a memory card for my new digital camera (the reason the pictures will come later).

It’s raining this morning too and that really is making me drag my feet.  I guess I better go get in the shower before he gets too antsy!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

Gac

Gac - it sounds like something straight out of a Dr. Seuss story! The reality is that Gac is a fruit grown in Asia. It’s a bright red fruit that grows on vines and can grow to be as large as a cantaloupe.

What I find most interesting about Gac is that in Asian households, it has been used for its medicinal properties for many, many years. As I am getting older, I look for products to use on my body and especially my skin that are natural due to the fact that they cause less damage. After all, it is damage I am trying to repair, I don’t want to use products that add to the problem.

R.G. Skin Revitalizer utilizes Gac in its product because it is an all natural product that protects the skin from damaging free radicals. In fact, a natural carotenoid antioxidant, beta-carotene, is found in abundance in Gac. Carotenoids also function as protection from the sun which we all know is a primary source of facial skin damage.

I have used facial lotions on my face since I was in high school. I’ve always looked for products for sensitive skin and no fragrances. I look for these because I find they help, not harm my skin. I’ll be looking into R.G.(Red Gac) Skin Revitalizer with Gac for future use.

Merry Christmas!

I realize this is a day late, but I did take a day off from blogging and spend the entire day enjoying Christmas with my husband, daughter and mother-in-law.  It was a wonderful day together, opening gifts, cooking, and playing the new games my daughter received.  We even spent some time watching Pirates of the Caribbean, At World’s End, which I found in my stocking!  I loved spending time with Johnny!

I hope all of you had a wonderful and very Merry Christmas and that you were also able to spend time with loved ones.  Happy Holidays!

Christmas Eve To Do List

It’s Christmas Eve and I have so much to do.  The rest of the house is still in bed, but I had to get up and get started, I don’t want to spend the entire day stressed out.  Here’s my list.

1. Do the dishes

2. Laundry (I’ve got the first load going)

3. Go to the grocery to get sugar cookie dough for Santa cookie making/baking

4. Make above noted sugar cookies and decorate them

5. Wrap Christmas presents (I still have about 10 small gifts to wrap)

6. Go to the mall so daughter can see Santa (this is our Christmas Eve tradition)

7. Make reindeer food

8. Track Santa on NORAD an ongoing event

And somewhere in that list I need to take a shower and maintain the house.  I look forward to the day when Christmas Eve is a day to relax.  What do you do today?  Do you have any traditions?

The Long Day

Today was a very long day.  Thankfully, it was absolutely beautiful outside, sunshine and into the upper 40’s, so it helped my mental frame of mind.

I started by doing the grocery shopping first thing this morning, I chore I really don’t enjoy.  I bought all the groceries for today’s buffet luncheon as well as everything for our Christmas dinner.  I’ve all ready realized a few items we’re missing, so will probably make a quick trip back to the store first thing in the morning.

Our guests had an enjoyable day I think.  We ate when they arrived and then played a couple of rounds of Balderdash.  My daughter really does enjoy the game and it was a great way for everyone to be involved.  There was a lot of laughing going on, a very good sign!

After the game we ate again and then watched the movie The Kingdom.  Actually, I didn’t watch it, I wasn’t really in a movie mood, so I played on my computer while everyone else watched it.  My daughter and I even made a quick little video.

All in all it was a very good, but long day.  I’m pooped.  Even more so when I think of how much we have to get done tomorrow, including baking all of our Christmas cookies! I hope everyone else had a good day as well.  :-D

What Christmas Ornament Are You?

My daughter took this quiz and she is a snowman!  I posted my results at my other blog, I’m not sure exactly what it means, but I’m a Christmas tree. :-D

This is such a cute little thing I thought I’d share it.  If you decide to take the quiz, let me know what you are, leave a comment and you’ll get a linkback.

Web Hosting

I’ve been reading a lot of blogs lately and one thing I’ve noticed recently is that many people are looking for web hosting. Many blog authors have found that by not hosting their own blog, they are under the controls of whoever is their host. This is not a good thing.

If you’re one of those people looking for web hosting you should check out Rudolf. Right now they are offering web hosting plus a free domain name for life for only $95! This is an incredible deal. For that one price you’ll get 250 GB disk space, 3000 GB bandwidth, dedicated support and so much more. If you’d like to have more than the one free domain, you can buy more domains with no additional fees for hosting.

If you are looking to move your domain to a new host, you can do that too. There is unlimited space for domains and subdomains. You also get unlimited MySQL databases, PHP4, webmail, professional website design tools with no hidden costs, and no recurring fees. It’s definitely worth checking in to, they even have a 30 day guarantee, if you don’t like it, they’ll give you a refund.

So, for all of you bloggers looking for web hosting, check it out.
