The Amazing Race

Do you have any particular shows that you watch together as a family? My daughter and I absolutely love to watch [tag]The Amazing Race[/tag] on Sunday nights. My husband joins us whenever he’s home. We even TIVO the show just in case we’re out or doing something else. I think we’ve been watching now for 4 or 5 seasons and I’m happy to say that this season is back to being tough, exciting and full of interesting characters! In fact, the last episode we saw, the grandfather and grandson were required to get permanent tattoos in order to be able to skip all the other tasks on that leg of the race. I don’t think I could’ve done that.

Whenever we watch the contestants, I find myself wondering how they manage to travel all the way around the world over that period of time with basically only a backpack and that little pouch around their waist that they keep their passport and clues in. I know they have to have at least a couple changes of clothes, coats, swimsuits, shoes and some sort of [tag]outdoor sports[/tag] and [tag]military gear[/tag] that they use along the way.

I like to watch them when they travel at night and they wear a [tag]Predator headlamp[/tag] on their head in order to read maps and clues. I know I look really bad in a hat, wonder how bad I’d look in a headlamp? That’s not a pretty picture, but I guess if it were a million dollars at stake, I wouldn’t care how dorky I looked!

We still have to watch the last episode, I think we totally forgot it was Sunday and didn’t realize it was on. Thank goodness for TIVO!

Back to Work

The holidays are officially over, my daughter went back to school this morning.

Even though we went to bed at our normal time last night, it was pure hell getting up this morning.  Of course, it probably didn’t help that it was 21 degrees out and dark.  I got up, turned the shower on and went right back to bed, snuggled up in my warm flannel sheets waiting for the water to get hot.  It made it even more difficult because we had to leave about 30 minutes earlier than normal since my daughter is on the school safety patrol this morning and tomorrow morning.  Good thing it’s a short week!

We got out the door, only a few minutes late and I was thankful that we have seat warmers in the car.  I was pretty quick to push that button this morning!  As I was backing out of the garage, my daughter commented that she finally feels at home.  I asked her what that meant and she said that because she actually had to put a big coat on this morning, she felt like we were back in Illinois.  That made me sad.

The coffee just beeped that it’s ready and I definitely need a nice hot cup this morning.  Hope everyone has a great day.  :-D
