Blog Traffic
I made a goal for myself that in 2008 I would work very hard on increasing traffic to my blogs. There are numerous ways to do this, and I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I know all there is to know. I’m a very new blogger, learning my way through the blogosphere, but one thing I am doing is visiting many other sites, reading, leaving comments where appropriate and hoping that when and if those bloggers come visit my site, I will have written something that they will not only be interested in reading, but will entice them to come back as repeat visitors.
Something I definitely do NOT want to do is annoy any of my readers. We all know what it’s like to surf the web and get those annoying pop-ups. If they weren’t annoying, why would we all go to such great lengths to use pop-up blockers? I have been surprised as I have been surfing through blogs over the last few days that I have even run across a few personal blogs that have had pop ups on them. Now, I realize that many of us want to monetize our sites, but monetize at the expense of our readers? That is not something I want to do.
I realize it is every bloggers right to choose if and how they will earn money on their blog. I have to say though, when I run across a blog that has a pop up, the chances of my revisiting that blog are minimized. Pay Per Play Ads seem to be different. These are strictly 5 second audio ads, nothing visual. This could be a win for both the blog publisher and the blog visitor. Nothing has to be clicked on for the publisher to earn money and the visitor isn’t bombarded with visual ads. Something I will have to think about.
How would you feel about visiting a site with audio only ads? Leave me a comment, I’d really like to hear from you.
