Prescription Eyeglasses

Prescription Eyeglasses

I can’t believe it, I dropped my prescription eyeglasses from the counter onto the bathroom tile floor. Of course, this isn’t the first time I’ve dropped my glasses, but this time, the right lens chipped. I have the style of glasses that are rimless on the bottom, so there was nothing to protect the lens when it hit the tile. We have vision insurance, but do you have any idea how much lenses cost? Even with insurance, lenses and frames can cost in the hundreds of dollars out of pocket. I’d much rather spend that money on fabric!

While surfing blogs today I made a great discovery: www.ZenniOptical.com who sells prescription glasses online. They sell them really cheap too because they manufacture their own frames and sell them direct to the customer. I can get a complete pair of glasses at this site for less than it would probably cost me to replace just one chipped lens.

Can I just say, I love the web, it saves me money all the time!

hi lynne, please let me know if you use their service and how you liked it. I still have my own reading glasses prescription that I didn’t get filled after I paid up over $200 for my daughter’s glasses. And that’s with insurance too.

I was genuinely glad to see this website; paid opp or not ;-)

My husband and I both wear prescription glasses and it never fails to amaze me how much they cost. Plus, I also wear contacts and so insurance only pays for one or the other.

I agree, I think I would have written this op whether I was paid or not, sounds like a great idea. I’m going to check into it further.

Thanks for this post, Lynne. I’ve been putting off getting new glasses just because of the cost. But with my sight being as important as it is and my glasses getting worse by the day, it’s getting harder to delay that purchase. Your link will be a great starting point. I don’t know why I didn’t think about online glasses. DOH!

I know what you mean Ron, I’ve been putting off repairing my lens because of the cost. It never occurred to me either to check online for eyewear. Kind of crazy considering how much time I spend online!
