Take Out

Take Out

I’m really starting to hate ordering take out food.  It’s not so much the ordering process itself, although, there are a few restaurants around here that have horrible phone etiquette, rather, it’s the actual food itself, or lack thereof.  What I mean is, I am becoming more and more disgusted with the fact that when you order take out, you go, you pick it up, you get all the way home with it, only to find out that they’ve either given you the wrong order, or they’ve shorted your order.  Sometimes, they do both.  It’s just really disappointing.

Tonight we ordered from one of our favorite bbq restaurants.  They have a huge combo platter that we usually only order one of because there is so much food that we can all 3 eat off of it and still have leftovers.  Tonight, we had a buy one get one free coupon, so ordered two of the combo platters.  We substituted the 2 sides that come with each platter, for two large baked potatoes.  Pretty simple order don’t you think?

My husband and daughter went to pick the food up.  Upon arriving at the restaurant, they were told that they were out of chicken but had put in extra of the other meats.  My husband felt that was fair so he paid and they headed home.  Once they got home and opened up the containers they realized right away that first of all, they had only given us ONE baked potato, not two as ordered.  Secondly, both platter containers only contained about 1/2 of what they normally contain.  It was as if they’d taken one platter and split it into two boxes!  Plus, neither container had any bbq’d ribs in it, so not only did we not get chicken, we didn’t get ribs.  It was really pathetic.

I’m not sure what happened, but it was pathetic.  If this had been our first time to frequent this particular restaurant, I can tell you that I wouldn’t be going back.  Right now though, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they were having a bad day.  If it happens again though we will probably not go back.

If it was me, I would have called the restaurant and said your order was wrong. You should get what you pay for!

P.S. Where did you get the spam protection math problem thing? I need that on MomReviews, it gets so much spam.

Gotta say, after a quick read I love the site!

I could not understand more though, this post on take-out food. So many times I go someplace only to be scorned by the fact that there never fails to be wrong with my order! You certainly aren’t alone in the frustration.

Elizabeth – I really like the math plugin. It eliminated the spambots. I do still get several spam each day, but not nearly what I was getting before I installed it. Try this link, http://sw-guide.de/wordpress/plugins/math-comment-spam-protection/

Oh, I understand that I’m not alone in my frustration. This only serves to add to the displeasure of getting take out. The customer service seems to completely fall apart when you don’t eat your food at the restaurant. It’s a sad state.

I was so excited when Applebee’s began doing carside pickup. Wouldn’t you know the very first time we ordered it we got home and, just like you said, they’d left something out. It happened to have been MY entire order, so I was on the phone hollering in no time flat.

They gave us a $50 credit. Fifty bucks!

We ate at Applebee’s twice the following week and — ta da! — they got the order right both times.

WOW Kate! That was worth them leaving out your meal! Sometimes it really does pay off to complain and I would’ve complained too if a whole meal was missing.
