Bag Organizer
Readers of my blog know that I enjoy making fabric bags. I have made quite a few over the last couple of years. I’ve given several away as gifts and have sold a few. Each bag is unique, there are no two alike in the way they look or the way they function. Some have pockets, some don’t. Some have zippers, some don’t. As a woman who has carried her fair share of bags and purses over the years, I know what it’s like to have a bag/purse that everything sinks to the bottom, a bottomless pit. It becomes difficult to find things. Your cell phone rings and you can’t locate it in the dark reaches of the bottom of your bag. You need a pen, but it’s down among all the lint and who knows what else, down in the blackness.
A year or so ago I found a solution to the bottomless pit of women’s bags. I was in a quilt shop in Joliet, Illinois and saw it on display, a finished [tag]bag organize[/tag]r. It was made from fabric and had many pockets. It was designed to make it easy for those women who like to change bags or purses on a regular basis. It had a pocket for everything, cell phones, pens, lipstick, mirror and your wallet. It was great and I wanted the pattern. But no, it was not to be, they were completely sold out. Unfortunately, I’m not a sewer who can typically make things without a pattern. I have done it, but it’s not something I enjoy, nor to I attempt it too often.
This explains why I was so thrilled today to run across a wonderful blogger who posted a video on how to make a [tag]purse organizer[/tag], a post to go with it, and a tutorial, a written, printable set of instructions! I am so excited that after printing it off, I went right in and cleaned my [tag]sewing[/tag] room, a goal I had set last week and hadn’t completed. I feel very motivated now and can’t wait to get in there and choose some fabric to make my first organizer.
I’m off to sew, I’ll update you when I’ve completed the first one!
