Quilted Bag

Quilted Bag

I’ve been talking so much about how much my family sews and crafts I decided that I need to start sharing more pictures of what is being created in my family. My mom and sister Karen are both quilters, but my other sister Grace and I enjoy making bags. Grace also quilts and has combined those two skills in this particular bag. It’s a small zipper bag with an over the shoulder strap. This is just like the ones I made and gave as gifts to the girls on my Destination Imagination team just before Christmas, but she quilts her bags, I don’t. This particular one she kept for herself and used it when she traveled to keep her airline ticket and identification in it. I think it’s very pretty!

Age Defying

I have inherited so many things from my mom, my love of sewing for one. Of course, I inherited many genetic things as well, my perfectly straight hair for one and my good skin for another. I’m often told that I don’t look my age and am asked what I do to keep my skin healthy looking. I always reply that I got good genes from my Mom! Of course I did, but that’s not the only thing I do to keep my skin looking and feeling healthy.

When I was still in high school I realized had a mildly dry skin. I began apply facial lotion and I’ve continued that ritual over the last 30+ years. As I’ve gotten older, I have changed the types of lotions I’ve used. Besides having dry skin, I also have a sensitivity to fragrance, so having a product that’s fragrance free is important to me. I also now look for products that assist in reducing wrinkles and crows feet. As someone who has a fear of needles, I never want to subject myself to Botox, I’d rather use creams and lotions.

http://www.justskincare.com/Bio_Peptide_Night_Repair_Cream.htm has a prescription free product, Peptide Night Cream, known to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Take it from someone with experience using wrinkle reducing products, this is something worth checking out.

What Kind of Flower Are You?

You Are a Blue Flower

A blue flower tends to represent peace, openness, and balance.
At times, you are very delicate like a cornflower.

And at other times, you are wise like an iris.

And more than you wish, you’re a little cold, like a blue hydrangea.

What Color Flower Are You?

I love these personality quizes! This one sort of surprised me though, I don’t imagine myself as a blue flower and my favorite flower is the tulip. Perhaps it’s my mood resulting in the “blue”, because I’m feeling that way a bit lately. Post holiday blues maybe? Although, when I read the description, it fits me pretty well!

Have You Heard?

I haven’t been blogging for very long, but one thing I learned quickly is that if you would like to make money from blogging, you have to monetize your site. There are many ways to monetize, and many bloggers have many differing opinions in this area. One thing that most bloggers agree with is that, while we blog for ourselves, in order to make money from blogging, we must have readers. So, with that in mind, in my opinion, when monetizing a blog, we need to do it in ways that don’t annoy our readers. We still need to ensure quality.

A blogger might consider placing ads on the site that readers click through in order for the blogger to earn money. Sometimes these work, sometimes they don’t. Another, newer advertising method is Net Audio Ads or “Pay per Play” ads. Pay per Play is audio only advertising, a 5 second audio ad that plays automatically when a site using it is opened in a browser. The big difference between this type of ad and click through ads is that there is no clicking required by the reader. The publisher earns each time their site is opened and the advertiser can target specific interests, geographic locations and demographics.

This program is currently offering an affiliate program that ends on February 1. By signing up now, a publisher will continue to earn affiliate revenue even after the Feb. 1 deadline. Signing up after Feb. 1 will eliminate the affiliate program, but will still allow a publisher to earn from audio ads placed on their site. So, if you’re thinking you’d like Pay Per Play audio ads, this is a great time to sign up.

Tackle it Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme
I did it! I cleaned my sewing room and now can start on a new project. I actually laid out my new project yesterday, and am heading back in there today to start sewing. I feel so much better now that my sewing room is cleaned and vacuumed. Not an easy task getting all those fabrics put away and threads cleaned off the floor! Here are my before and after pictures.
