Sew Crafty Friday

posted in sewing |

This is my first time to join Sew Crafty Friday and Shereen, who has a beautiful blog, Waiting For Him, has made it so easy to participate.

My goal for 2008 is to work on creating enough bags and crafts to be able to start selling them. As much as I love to sew, sometimes I need some motivation to get into my sewing room and get busy. Once I’m there, I tend to work like crazy, it’s just getting started that I have a hard time with. So, now that I can report my progress weekly, I feel more motivated to keep it up.

So, here is one of the bags I made last week and finished on Saturday.

First I laid out the fabric charms, not an easy task for me because I am such a perfectionist, I can never decide on the best color placement.

I sewed on this off and on over the course of a few days.

Thanks Terri! I love the little blanket you crocheted. I haven’t crocheted in years, but when I see things like that, it makes me want to find my crochet hooks!

Your bag is so cute. I have been wanting to do a similar project. I love the pretty fabrics you chose. You have inspired me to put that on my to do list for the year. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Ginny! I just recently discovered fabric “charm” packs at the local quilt shop and I think I’m hooked on them! This was actually my second bag using this pattern, the first one was a lighter pink.

Elizabeth Joy - Thanks! Once I get the fabric laid out, these bags are pretty easy to make. I have trouble making final decisions on the layout, so that tends to take me a while! :-D

Great job! I know what you mean about color placement! That is precisely why I haven’t attempted a quilt like that…I can never get it just right! I need someone else to pick them out & arrange them for me!

Gina - I lay out the pieces and then I spend hours rearranging them! I’m just never satisfied. :-D

That is so beautiful! You certainly could sell something like that, and make good money on it. I’ve been wanting to work on some things to start an ‘etsy’ shop, too, but never feel ‘good’ enough. I guess I’m just chicken, LOL! Good luck to you!

I really want to sell and I joined Etsy last week. I just can’t figure out how to set up a shop! I can so, I’m just not techno literate. :-D

You match them well and you already did quite a number of bags already. Now I think I should make one for myself.
