Selling Fabric Bags

Selling Fabric Bags

I hope you’ve noticed that I’m attempting to sell some of the fabric bags that I’ve created. I have a few for sale in my right sidebar.

In my attempt to sell my creations, I have found another Online Auction Site I may have to try. The listings include everything from antiques to movies and possibly in the near future, my fabric bags!

What do you think? Are auction sites appealing to you? Do you use them? Are you a buyer or a seller?

    What a gorgeous bag!

I love auction sites. I was an ebay seller for many years.

Thanks Sue! I used to use eBay a long time ago too. They’re so big no, I’m a bit intimidated with them. Their fees are getting to be too much too, cuts into any profit I might make.

That’s a nice bag. Have you tried Etsy? It’s an online store for crafters and artists.

I hate auctions. Just set a price. If people like it, they’ll buy it. EBay is too expensive to take a gamble when selling. I don’t like it to buy and I don’t like it to sell. Lots of people “claim” they’ve made money with it, but if you’ll notice, they all stopped using it. If they were making so much easy money, then why quit?

I agree, I prefer to just sell, not auction. I’m working on that. I have joined Etsy, but haven’t yet figured out how to set up my shop. I need to work on that.

I do use wordpress.org. It’s the only thing I know, I’ve never used anything else. The only negative is the frequency they’ve been updating lately. It takes time to upload the upgrade and there is always the possibility for problems afterwards. I’m not a tech person so I usually try to find someone who is that will help me do that stuff.

    Hi Lynne:
First of all congrats on setting up your Entrecard. I’ll be sure and keep your cards active with my 4 blogs. I didn’t have any luck on Ebay with my handmade items. I have my Etsy shop and I do much better there but not as good as I want. And I’ve only had 3 people in Texas buy my products and none of them were in Dallas. All my products sell elsewhere in the USA. I feel like we seamstress work very hard to create and make very high quality products and many people don’t appreciate it.

Ellen - Thanks! I’m totally addicted to Entrecard now, it’s bad! I know exactly what you mean about people not appreciating the hand crafted work we do. I have people ask to buy my bags all the time, but then they don’t want to pay. They want a Target or Kmart price I guess.
Have you ever sold at any craft shows in the area? Your bags are beautiful, we just have to come up with the best way to sell I think. Maybe we should meet up and strategize!

Ellen - And thanks too for approving my entrecard ads on your sites! :-D
