Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme
This week I decided to tackle something that’s been annoying me for quite some time, the kitchen island. There are so many days that I wonder where all the crap that lands on the island would go if we didn’t have an island at all! This is definitely something I need to keep up with on a daily basis or it will look like this again, in a hurry. If you really look in the picture, you can see that the counter had actually overflowed onto the stools, we couldn’t even sit down!

It really did take me all week to get it looking like this. There were a lot of papers that needed to be filed and items that needed a home. I didn’t just want to move the mess, I wanted to eliminate it. Plus, every time I would get it partially cleared, somebody would drop something new onto the counter. It’s definitely an ongoing, never ending tackle.

If you have a project, big or small, that you’d like to share in Tackle it Tuesday, head over to 5 Minutes For Mom and join in.

Wow—that looks awesome!! I know what you mean about the piles. I hate how fast they pile up. A few days of mail will do it around here.

I got my second video up if you want to take a look!!

I had that same problem when I had a kitchen island. Now it just lands on my dining room table. It really is a daily chore to keep stuff off of it. I think it’s just a convenient place to set things down when you come in, and you can see it so you won’t forget it, etc. At least that’s what I would tell myself, LOL.

Amazing. I’m actually seriously jealous you have such a big island. It’s an oasis. No wonder it collects so many things.

LOL Fatiah! I wish I could just snap my fingers and have all the mess disappear! That would give me so much more time to sew.

Jennifer, I tend to tell myself the same thing! Unfortunately, we set stuff down and it sort of stays there.

Candi – The mail is a huge part of the problem. I try to make myself take care of it daily, but it doesn’t always happen.

Kristen – I like the size of the island, but I do get a lot of exercise walking around in circles to get from one side to the other. On the flip side, maybe that’s a bonus? I can sure use the exercise! :-D

My kitchen island is the same way. It drives me crazy when I get it all cleared off and within five minutes someone has dropped something else on there. Argh!

That looks fabulous. I hope it stays that way long enough for you to enjoy your hard work. And kudos to you for not just moving it but eliminating it. Sometimes, that is so hard.

Looks beautiful and I love the flowers.

Jessica – I think that’s why it took me so long to accomplish, I was determined not to just move it to a new spot! :-D

Brenners – Thanks! We moved in here almost a year ago and I’m still trying to make it feel like our home, a very slow process.

Corrin – I remember when my husband & I ate a lot of tuna fish casseroles in order to save money for our first house! It’ll happen sooner than you think! :-D

Wow it looks fabulous! We have a desk that’s become a dumping ground that I have to plow out once a week. It used to be the kitchen counter that was the dumping ground so at least I shifted it to a new spot…LOL

Thanks for visiting my blog! :)
