Four Foods on Friday

I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am that tomorrow is Friday. Strange as it seems though, I do wish I had one more day. My Destination Imagination team is not ready for their tournament on Saturday and one more day is all they would need. But, the show must go on, ready or not!

In celebration of the weekend being upon us, here is my Four Foods on Friday meme, my favorite meme. :-D

This week’s four questions:

#1. What type of m&m is your favorite? This is a tough question for me. I like both, but truthfully, I like to mix plain and peanut together.

#2. Peanut butter. Smooth, chunky, creamy. How do you like it? I like crunchy, don’t really know why they make smooth!

#3. Do you usually drink out of glass, acrylic, Tupperware type or paper cups? Let’s see. I currently drink water from plastic bottles, but anything else I drink out of glass. If I ever get my ice maker hooked up, I’ll quit buying plastic water bottles. I have to have ice cold water or I can’t drink it.

#4. Share a chicken recipe.   This recipe is for lemon chicken.

1 whole chicken

olive oil

salt & pepper

2 lemons

Pierce one lemon with a fork.  Place pierced whole lemon inside of body cavity.

Rub olive oil all over chicken.  Sprinkle with salt & pepper.  Squeeze lemon juice from second lemon all over chicken.

Place chicken on rack in a shallow roasting pan.  Roast in 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

How to Choose a Web Host

Besides being an admitted fabric-a-holic, I’ve also made it know that I am addicted to blogging.

When I first began blogging, I didn’t even know what a web host was! I just used the company my sister told me to use. Thankfully, she had me use a reliable, reputable company with great customer service.

If you don’t have a knowledgeable sister like I do, how do you go about choosing your web host? I see this question asked all the time on various forums. There really are so many to choose from.

Now, if you’re trying to figure out who to use as your web host, there is a guide that will provide web review of all the popular web hosting sites. This guide will give an overview, a description of the web host’s reputation, information on pricing and support plus a description of the web hosts control features.

Just like using a Bluebook to find the value of your vehicle, this guide is a Bluebook of web hosting sites. The reviews are all done by consumers such as ourselves and webmasters. Don’t just pick a web host out of thin air, let this valuable guide work for you.

Taking a Small Break

I am the team manager (volunteer) for my daughter’s 6th grade Destination Imagination team.  They have been working hard and practicing since last October and their first tournament is 2 days away.  They are currently upstairs working on one of their props, an optical illusion.  I think it will look very cool when they’re done, if they ever get done!  It’s huge and so has taken them much longer than they anticipated.

As a surprise for the team, I’ve been embroidering team t-shirts.  The fronts of the shirts are now done and I’m embroidering their individual names on the backs.  I’m hoping I will have just enough time to make myself and my assistant each one as well.  I think it’s cool to see teams dressed alike at tournaments, it sort of makes them stand out in the crowd.

Of course, they have costumes they’ll be wearing when they actually perform, so the t-shirts won’t be worn then.  They actually did design the t-shirts too, for the most part.  They just don’t know that I’m the one making them.

Anyway, I’ve been working all day today on these, I didn’t even go in to my new job!  The team is here now though, so I am taking a break and blogging instead.  If I turn my sewing machine on, they’ll want to know what I’m up to!

I hope to post pictures tomorrow, so hope you’ll come back to see what I’ve been working on.  :-D

Win a Nintendo Wii

In my seemingly never ending quest to find a Nintendo Wii, I am feeling somewhat defeated. Do you realize the Nintendo Wii game consoles were introduced to the public over a year ago and they still aren’t available in stores? What the heck is up with that? I think it’s a marketing strategy or else it’s very poor planning.

There are days when I’m okay with the fact that I haven’t yet become a Wii owner since the games themselves are $50+ each. But, they are pretty cool and so I continue my quest, someday, I do hope that we have our own Wii in our house.

I am an internet shopper, so it only seems natural that I would spend time online shopping for the Wii.  Although I have yet to find it to purchase, I do occasionally run across other ways to get my hands on a Wii, mainly through contests. Today is no different.

In an effort to build their high-speed interenet business, Charter is offering the chance to win a Nintendo Wii. If I’m the winner, not only will I receive the Wii console, I’ll also get a Wii stand, 5 games, 1 remote controller, 1 nunchuck controller, 1 sensor bar, 1 Wii AC adapter, and 1 Wii AV cable. So, with all that, if I’m the winner, I can play as soon as I receive my prize! I’m definitely entering this contest.

Although I do plan on winning, Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™! and enter the contest yourself.  Good Luck!

While you’re there, you can register to bid on a lifetime of Charter High-Speed Internet. Bids start at $10. Now, wouldn’t that be cool, never having to pay for internet service again!

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things about sewing, that I enjoy

1…. I love fabric stores! There are so many beautiful fabrics, it can be overwhelming, but I like finding a fabric that I can create something special out of, knowing it’s a one of a kind item.

2…. I love fabric! Ditto what I said before, just can’t have enough fabric!

3…. I love to sew with my sisters and my mom. We get together with our sewing machines when we can and we just create. It’s fun because we all help each other out when we’re trying something new.

4…. I love taking sewing classes to learn new things. It’s a great way to learn new sewing techniques.

5…. I love meeting people that love to sew.

6…. I love buying thread. Have you SEEN how many colors of thread are available?!

7…. I love sewing supplies. If you can think of it, it probably exists.

8…. I love my sewing machine. I do wish it had a few more decorative stitches, but hey, it does embroider, so I’m not complaining!

9…. I love carrying a bag I’ve made and having someone ask me where I bought it. :-D

10… I love that my daughter likes me to make her Halloween costumes, they’re more original and they look better than those cheapy ones at the store. She likes picking out the fabrics for those too.

11… I love showing my daughter how to do things on my machine.

12… I love that I’m finally learning to make a quilt. My mom is an avid, and excellent, quilter. I have not followed in those footsteps, but I am learning a little bit at a time, and who knows, maybe I’ll be able to work on a quilt with her someday!

13… Finally, I love that my machine embroiders. I program it, turn it on, and let it run. I’m typing this as my machine is embroidering a t-shirt now. :-D
