Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I’m still recovering from the crazy, hectic couple of weeks I had finalizing plans with my Destination Imagination team and making sure they were ready for the regional tournament. The one thing I did myself as a surprise for them was to embroider t-shirts with their team names on the fronts and individual names on the back. The girls actually designed the shirts, but they thought a professional was doing the work. I opted to do it myself with shirts I bought at Joann’s and using my own embroidery sewing machine.I’ve posted pictures of the progress of those shirts throughout last week, but I never got around to posting the end result, so, here it is!

This one is the back of one of the shirts, before I took out the basting stitches (the rectangular around the name).

And finally, the completed shirt being modeled .

Oh! Do you have one of those AMAZING embroidery machines? I don’t even so, but I would love one of those. I think I would use it like a label machine. I would be addicted. The shirts look great!

Thanks Kristen! I’m learning more and more items I can create on my embroidery machine. I’m taking classes at the local Viking sewing shop and learning more techniques. I’m having a lot of fun with it.

Thanks Karen! I’m having fun now that I’m figuring out different things I can do with the machine & software.

Girl, you are just TOO talented! Putting me to shame! Can’t sew a button on a shirt hardly! Guess I’ll just having to keep collecting since I can’t make aprons myself!

Melanie - After creating the design on the computer, it’s really just as simple as placing the shirt onto the hoop and attaching the hoop to the sewing machine. The machine does everything else! :-D

Lisa - I don’t really do too well sewing buttons on either! In fact, I try anything to keep from doing any hand sewing. Machine embroidery is so easy, the machine does most of the work!

Ellen - I just used a serger for the first time at a class on Sunday. Oh my! Wouldn’t that be fun to own! I do all my sewing on my embroidery machine too, so I only have one machine. I wouldn’t mind having a second machine that has more decorative stitches, I do a lot of top stitching.

what did the girls think of them?
I gave Lauren her pillowcase with her name on it, she grabbed it looked at her sister and said “it’s mine!”
    (she’s 4 1/2) she loved it!

The girls loved the shirts! They were shocked that I knew how to do that! You know, we moms don’t know how to do too much! LOL

I’m glad Lauren liked her pillowcase! Did you take a picture of it? I want to see what you did. (maybe I need to check my email!)

Your embroidery looks great. No doubt the t-shirts are machine embroidered but credit is all yours. I’m so envious as I have never owned an embroidery sewing machine. What model is that, is it costly?

Fatiah - Thank you! I have used my embroidery on some of the bags I’ve made, although I don’t currently have any of those on hand to show off here. My machine is a Viking Platinum 955. I started out with a much simpler model that didn’t embroider and I traded up a couple of times to get to this one. The deal clincher was when they were including the embroidery computer software and cardreader that I need to transfer designs from my computer to my machine.
I use this same machine for all of my sewing too, so it gets put to work a lot.

Thanks too for the birthday wishes!

Sasha - I was in a sewing class yesterday and the lady sitting next to me had only recently been learning to sew. It really is a lot of fun and if you buy from a sewing machine dealer and not a dept. store, you typically get free classes with your purchase. It’s a lot of fun!
