Four Foods on Friday

It’s Friday! This has been an exhausting week, lots of midnight storms keeping us awake, staying up late visiting with my mom, and spending time on the road visiting quilt shops. Normally, I’m glad it’s Friday, but this week, as tired as I am, it means my mom is nearing the end of her visit. I will miss her.

This weeks Four Foods On Friday is in her honor. :-D

#1. American cheese. Sliced fresh or prepackaged processed cheese product? I’m not a big American cheese fan, but I prefer sliced fresh or the deli style package. Processed cheese is something I just can’t swallow unless it’s used in mac & cheese.

#2. What is your favorite cracker? My mom enjoys oyster crackers, but I have to say I prefer townhouse crackers with cheddar cheese slices on them.

#3. What hot breakfast cereal do you like? Think oatmeal, farina, grits, etc. The only hot cereals I eat are oatmeal and cream of wheat (which I haven’t had in years!)

#4. Share a recipe that uses corn. I like corn on the cob cooked on the grill. It’s really very simple. Peel back the husk, removing the silk. Rub mayonnaise on the kernels, replace the husks. Place on the upper rack of the grill and cook until kernels are tender. Slather in butter and enjoy!

Mayonnaise? Really? I’ll have to try that! I usually just toss the whole ears on the grill, then remove the husk and silk when done.

Skeet - The mayonnaise on the corn insulates the kernels to keep them moist. I’ve also heard of soaking the corn in the husk in water for a few hours and then putting it on the grill. I’ haven’t tried that method.
