Sew Crafty Friday

posted in sewing |

I’ve had so many project going at the same time lately! I don’t normally do that, but we are trying to build up our supply of completed items in order to do a show in July, so I’ve been working something of a production line. While I’m embroidering one project, I sew another. I’m even heading out today to pick up my new serger machine which will allow me to do a few things faster.

This is a fabric bag I just finished. It’s made from strips of fabric and a fat quarter for the lining. Even the pockets and handles are made from strips. This is a fun bag to make and fairly quick too, I even added a zipper closure to this one. This one took a bit longer only because I had so many interruptions!

I love the bag, the nearest I get to sewing is using a stapler and I don’t think that really counts :)

Hi there, I absolutely love this bag! My time to sew is so limited. I’m itching to get home and sew this weekend. I’d love to make a bag like yours!

That is really beautiful! I’m not a one project at a time person. I always have numerous projects in the works, and sometimes I actually finish them, LOL! I guess if I was working towards a deadline for a show, I would do better.
I love the fabric in that bag, and the buttons at the sides. And, oh my gosh, the embroidery on the straps! Too cute!

That is really cute… I love the handles. I haven’t done a zipper yet. Actually I try to avoid zippers in everything…. maybe I could find a place that gives zipper lessons :).

Jennifer - I currently sell direct and accept payment via paypal. If you are interested, let me know and I can email you the specifics on the size of the bag and everything. This bag is $30 and shipping is $4.60.

Chris - Yep, a laptop would indeed fit in that bag! I just didn’t put as much padding in it as a laptop bag would have. The next one I make I will remember to do that!

Love the playful prints. I’m a compulsive multi-tasker, so I can relate. Great job. I hope you get what you want done in time for the show.

I love the fabric for your bag! You did a great job. I enjoy making jelly roll bags. I haven’t used an actual jelly roll, but but my own strips. It’s fun picking fabrics to go together. Moda ones are the best.

Are those grommets at the top? Also I like the way you put in the zipper. I made a purse last year for a lady that had a zipper. Typically I don’t put zippers in mine but she requested it that way. Sounds like you have some interested buyers for it.
    Awesome!
