Four Foods on Friday

A few more hours and it will be Friday! It can’t come soon enough. With all of the storms this week I’ve definitely not had enough sleep. I’m looking forward to the weekend. To celebrate, here is the Four Foods on Friday meme for this week. Thanks to Valmg for hosting this fun meme!

#1. What’s your favorite food smell? My favorite food smell has to be the smell of cookies baking. This is not a smell that is in my house too often, but I love it none the less!

#2. What’s your favorite kind of apple? I enjoy granny smiths and red delicious. No matter what kind I’m eating, it has to be crunchy and juicy. If it’s at all soft, I can’t eat it.

#3. What veggies do you like in your salad? I typically only put mushrooms in my salad, but will sometimes toss in a little broccoli.

#4. Share a recipe that uses beef. I would have to go with beef stew.
Brown the stew meat in flour, salt & pepper. Add 2 c. beef broth and 1 or 2 c. water. Add cut up carrots, potatoes and onion. Season to taste. Simmer for about an hour. Serve over cooked rice.

I got to admit that beef stew does sound tasty. I just gotta find some meat that has as little fat as possible or I’m not going anywhere near it. I also forgot about the smell of cookies baking but since I burn just about everything in my oven I don’t even think about it lol

i love broccoli on my salad too! But here’s a question, do you blanch yours or toss it in raw? I’ve done both, but the jury is still out.

Oooooh…I forgot about broccoli! That’s always great on a salad. It has to be fairly small pieces, though. *g*

    1. I’m with you on the cookies, but keep them away from me or I’ll eat them all :-)

    2. Fuji apples are my favorite. Unfortunately, I can’t eat them; they make me sick.

    3. Romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, green olives, pepperoncini peppers.

    4. Tacos: Brown 1 lb. ground beef, add 3/4 cup water and 1 pkg taco seasoning of your choice and simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes. Put beef in corn or flour tortillas and top with your favorite cheese and veggies. Salud!

My grandma used to make beef stew in the crock pot, and put biscuit mix on the top to cook. So good.

My favorite food smell is baking bread. I recently purchased a Zojirushi Bread Bakery and totally love it. My hubby had a heart attack when he found out how much I paid for it. But, I think he forgives me a little bit more, every time he eats the finished product.
