Fabric Tote Bag

Fabric Tote Bag

posted in sewing |

I crafted this bag, along with the matching bag organizer, a while back. The front is designed from 5″ square fabric charms set on point. The back and lining are both coordinating fabrics. It is fully lined and the handles are reinforced for added strength. The bag is large enough to carry a laptop in, although, it wasn’t technically designed for that purpose and so it doesn’t have extra padding in it. The organizer is a great place to keep your keys, cell phone and anything else that tends to get lost in the bottom of your bag!

I’m currently making a similar bag and hope to have it completed by the end of the week. (If I would just get off this computer!)

The house I was staying at during the summer had a great handbag calendar with bags from the last 100 years to present day.

There was some great bags very similar to this one but i can’t remember what era they were from.

I have enough trouble sewing a hole in my jeans so don’t think I could ever do this.

Also I wanted to ask if you were interested in something. I have just started a new blog http://www.blogaboutanimals.com and am looking to do around one post a week profiling bloggers pets. I was wondering if you would be interested in featuring your cute Plinko as the first one?

Hello! Just came across your blog while dropping entrecards. Nice bag!
My older sister is going to sew a bunch of totebags for her birthday par-tay, for her guests to decorate and have fun with.
    It should be cool.
Oh, love the daily bible verse! I’m gonna have to put that one on my blog too!

Forest - I’d be happy to have Plinko in your first profile! Do you want me to write the post and provide a picture or how do you want to work that?

I’d love to see the calendar you’re referring to, it’s interesting to see bags that old that are so similar to what we are doing today.

Karen - I saw a beautiful quilt made from these fabrics at the Kaleidescope Quilt shop in Whitesboro, TX. You need to share a photo of the one you did.

Ellen - Thanks! Yes, it’s for sale in my paypal widget.

Thanks Anna - I love the mauve and creams in the fabric too. I recently saw the most beautiful quilt made out of the exact same fabric.

I am heading back down to Vermont in the next few weeks and will be staying at the said house again. I’ll try to remember to get the Calendar name and take a photo if I get a chance.

As for poor exploited Plinko…. just send me a few snaps and if you want a little blurb about him and your relationship with him. I don’t mind how many words. Also let me know what link you would like to use, maybe you want it going back to on of your past Plinko posts or your homepage or wherever.

Thanks very much for participating. I am hoping to really grow this new blog and have a lot of fun with it. I have been looking for a niche for ages. What did you think of the design, any suggestions?
