The Ulitimate Ice Cream Experience

Imixamerica
I scream! You scream! We all scream for ICE CREAM!!

That’s exactly what I feel like doing right this minute after spending the morning out at the softball field! I’m really glad it was an early game because it it’s definitely going to be hot out and getting hotter. Although our team lost, they took second on the season and in the tournament and they played their hearts out. I think that’s cause for celebration, and celebration means ice cream!

I think after lunch we’re going to head over to our favorite ice cream shop, Cold Stone Creamery. My daughter’s been wanting to develop her own creation so she can enter the Awesome Cold Stone Contest where the Grand Prize winner will win a $30,000 value pack! Unbelievable!

The contest is open to ages 13-19. You don’t have to purchase anything, but then again, I think it’s fun to go in and have them put your ingredients together so you can give it a good taste test before entering it in the contest! Of course, that’s just my opinion, but I’m sure my daughter won’t be opposed to the idea! We might even have to go back a few times for her to perfect her creation, after all, she only gets to submit one entry. The deadline to enter is June 5, 2008, so we don’t have time to mess around. She’s got to get her creation made, tasted and entered.  What about you?  Will you be entering the contest?

Just think, even if she doesn’t win, we’ll have enjoyed our ice cream. :-D

Father’s Day Gift Idea

My daughter and I are still discussing what to get my husband, her dad, for Father’s Day which is a mere two weeks away. We also have to start thinking about what to do for his birthday which is a mere two months away. He is definitely not the easiest man to buy for, he has very expensive taste and is somewhat choosy. I may have mentioned at some point that he collects time pieces, quality watches. It’s something I’ve always wanted to buy him, but he is extremely particular about his watches and I would never presume to know what he would like, there are so many to choose from.

I do know that he has always admired Breitling watches like the one pictured above. These are way out of my price range, but he admires them none the less. Perhaps some day he’ll be able to get that dream watch, but for now, I have to look at less expensive items.

I’ve also been looking at several jewelry watches that I think he would enjoy. He likes having a variety of watches and doesn’t usually wear the same one two days in a row. It’s similar to ladies changing their jewelry, he changes his watch, besides his wedding band, it’s the only jewelry he wears. I think the only watch I’ve ever purchased for him was a Seiko chronograph that he still has and I gave that to him over 20 years ago!

So, we’re still considering all of our options, but I guess we better make a decision soon, Father’s Day will be here before we know it!

Four Foods on Friday

My favorite day of the week? Friday. My favorite meme? Four Foods on Friday

This is a weekly meme and if you’d like to participate, head over and give Valmg a shout out!

This week’s questions:

#1. What is your favorite food that is cooked on the barbeque? I love bbq ribs. I start mine out in the crock pot and finish them on the grill, I think that counts!

#2. What veggies, if any, do you cook on the barbeque? I’ve done corn on the cob, baked potatoes, red potatoes, and of course, grilled onions and peppers.

#3. Tell us a little about your barbeque habits. Who grills, how often, what months, etc. We use our grill all year long. When we have company, my husband does the grilling. If it’s just us, I’m usually doing the grilling. We use the grill at least once a week and more in the summer, it keeps the heat out of the house!

#4. Share a barbeque recipe. This is one of my favorite steak marinades.

Soak tenderized steaks in 1 cup Jack Daniels whiskey, preferably 8-10 hours. Place carefully on pre-heated grill. The alcohol may cause flare up, so be careful! A few minutes before the steaks are done, slather bbq sauce on them and finish grilling. Watch carefully so they don’t burn.

Looking At Custom Labels

In preparation for our craft show in July, I’m looking at promotional items, again.

One thing I’ve been considering is what type of packaging to use when someone makes a purchase. I’ve always remembered one of my favorite gift shops that I used to frequent and they always placed my purchased in the prettiest paper bag. Located on the paper bag was an adhesive label with the store’s name and address printed on it using Digital Printing so it looked very professional. These were custom labels and I’m sure they had to be ordered in large quantity, but for a store that size it was a great idea.

I may be able to print a smaller quantity myself as I’m not quite ready for such a big order. If I were doing wine bottles or food packaging, I’d have a large enough quantity to justify the order.

Do you notice what packaging your purchases come in?
