Stamp Out Hunger

Saturday, May 10

Write that date on your calendar, it is the day to Stamp Out Hunger!

On Saturday, May 10, Campbell Soup Company will join forces with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) to Stamp Out Hunger! This event is in its 16th year and it is so incredibly easy to participate, you really have no excuse not to.

It’s easy. Simply use a sturdy bag and fill it with non-perishable food items. These items can include canned goods such as soups and vegetables or boxed and bagged foods like pastas, rice and cereals. Just be sure all of the items in your bag are in non-breakable containers. Once you’ve filled your bag, leave the bag next to your mailbox. That’s it. Your mail carrier will take care of the rest by picking up the bag during his normal mail delivery route.

Mail carriers all over the United States will be picking up donations and will then deliver them to food bank members of America ’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network and other hunger relief organizations in more than 10,000 local communities.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I just made a large donation to our local food bank also. With food prices the way they are, this event could not be timelier.

I wish I could contribute more to help the fight of hunger all over the world. It makes me so sad when I see those documentaries on the starving people in Africa. The other day they showed a group of people making cookies out of dirt!

Jennifer - I agree, this is such a timely event. I always use this as a time to clean out my pantry and start fresh. It’s nice to be able to help others.

I love the sound of this. We take food for granted but there are so many people out there who’re wanting for even the smallest of meals.

BTW, I’ve tagged you to tell me Three Random Things about you and food. Can’t wait to read what you have to say :).

WOW! Great news for anyone who is ready to give back. Totally smart idea — reducing the barrier to entry for people who want to donate and making it as easy as possible — no excuses!
