My Latest Creation

posted in sewing |

I have been so busy lately and I apologize right up front to any of my loyal EC droppers who I have not been able to reciprocate with over the last day or so. Sometimes, as we all know, the computer has to take a back seat to family an real life and that is how it has been the last few days.

Besides having so much going on personally, my daughter is becoming more and more involved with softball again and, in fact, she is going to be trying out for a select team later today.

I have been doing some major organizing and catching up with paperwork as well as trying to get some sewing done. As I’ve mentioned before, we’re going to be selling at a show in July and I need to have some completed items to sell! I actually finished one of my all time favorite bags last night, but I don’t yet have pictures of it. I’m going to be making a bag organizer to go with it, so will post about that later.

In the mean time, I made this zippered bag last week. I love the flip flop fabric accented by the beach ball fabric and the green zipper. The zipper opens to a lined interior and there is a coordinating pocket on the back. The over the shoulder strap is about 30″ long. This is a great bag for carrying small items when traveling (i.d, etc) or for younger girls who carry the simple things, like lip gloss, cash and a cell phone! (oh those were the days!)

Oh my gosh!!!! I love this!! I think this is my favorite of all. What are the dimensions? I tried to make one very similar to this about a year ago. I had some problems with it so I put it to the side(sound familiar??) to work on later. It’s still sitting to the side. However, I did make many last fall that are also similar without zippers but with a button tab and a cording strap. Now that I’ve figured out some issues by making the ones in the fall, I think I can go back and finish the first one. What are you selling this for? This one is just too cute!!!!!

Wow, very great. I suggest when next you take a photo, place something like a pen by it so that one can easily appreciate the size of the object.

Ellen - This is a super simple bag made from just 2 fat quarters of fabric and a 14″ zipper. I’ll have to share the pattern with you next time I see you.

Uncle Che - That’s a great idea, size perspective, thanks! I’ll remember to do that in the next photo.

Lynne, where did you find that fabric? you used a 14″ zipper?
I just use 7″ ones, they are cheaper too. :-)

Grace - I got the fabric at The Quilt Asylum. I use whatever the pattern calls for, I always wonder why they call for such a long one! :-D

Sarah - I am so sorry to have taken so long to get back to you! I went out of town and am just finally feeling like I’m getting close to being caught up from my absence. I visited both your jewelry blog and your website. The jewelry is beautiful! Do you make all of that yourself? My hands were never coordinated enough to work with all those small beads, I admire those who can do that.
