Spring in Full Bloom

Spring in Full Bloom

I was away for a short 6 days and I have to tell you how different it looks outside now that I’m back home. Everything is turned green and all of the trees have their leaves on them! It’s amazing to me how quickly the signs of winter can disappear. It was so warm here in the Dallas area a few days ago that my daughter and husband even got in the swimming pool for the first time this year. I’m not sure the water would have been warm enough for me, but they sure did enjoy it.

One of the things I loved about the property we purchased here in Dallas last year was our yard. We have about a 1/2 acre and if you’re familiar with Dallas at all, you know that it’s unusual to have any kind of yard at all, much less a yard that can be described as acreage! The yard is surrounded by beautiful landscaping and enclosed by a black iron fence. The bushes and trees provide privacy from all of the surrounding homes which I really like, especially when I’m out enjoying our pool.

One of the homes behind us also has a swimming pool and behind their pool is a really pretty gazebo. They have a porch swing inside the gazebo and a couple of chairs too. I always think it looks like a terrific place to relax with a good book and a big glass of wine. On top of the gazebo is one of the coolest weathervanes I think I’ve ever seen. It’s similar to the one pictured here.

One of these days I’d love to extend our patio area by building an arbor, among other things. In the mean time, I enjoy checking out Upside Living and planning out my back yard’s future development. I realize it’s pretty far off in the future, but we really do find ourselves spending quite a bit of time outdoors here and it seems like a wise thing to do. It would be like doing a home addition without any walls. In the mean time, I will just continue to enjoy the fact that every thing has once again greened up and I even have roses and mums in bloom. It was definitely a nice view to come home to.

Don’t you love it when the weather’s nice enough to actually enjoy the backyard? I was spoiled in Sunny San Diego, but here in the Valley, I get about… 2-3 months of backyard weather.

I can’t wait for swimming lessons to start – we decided to save some money and NOT put a pool in – lol. Hey – let us know when you start the project on extending your patio? You’ve GOT to show us before and after pictures!!

Dette – I think it’s going to be a while before I can work on extending my patio. I am currently just dreaming about how it will look! We bought this house with the pool all ready in, didn’t want to have to incur the expense of building one. We’ve done that in the past and don’t want to do it again!
