Sewing Through the Pain

posted in sewing |

I woke this morning with a terrible sinus headache and thought I wasn’t going to make it through the day.  I had so much to get done today.

I began my taking an allergy pill, followed doing some volunteer work at my daughter’s school.  I came home to do more catching up on email and personal business, during which, I downed 3 large cups of coffee.  My noon I had decided that my head wasn’t going to stop hurting to I needed some sewing therapy.

I opted to start something new, a bag I had purchased the material for a few weeks ago.  This one is different than any of the others I’ve made, I even had to use a pattern to cut it out, something I’m not used to doing.  In fact, when I cut it out, I was so confused that I wound up cutting out enough fabric to actually make two bags!  I’ll have to keep you posted on my progress.  I believe I’m now half way done with the first one.

I had to stop my progress this afternoon to run errands and spend time with my daughter.  I should be able to get back to it tomorrow.   Hopefully I won’t have to deal with my headache and can concentrate better.

I feel your pain, it is terrible to have to work with a headache. My husband gets migraines and that usually puts him out for a day or two. I also know what you mean about getting confused when cutting with a pattern (especially if you are not used to working with one). Don’t worry it happens to the best of us, the only thing I can say is that it does get easier with practice. Anyway, I’ve got to get back to work myself. I will check back to see what your new bags look like.

Thanks Ellen - I finally broke down and went to the doctor today, something I rarely do. I’m just tired of living in a fog.

Karen - Thanks! Hopefully my new allergy meds will help.

Constancia - Migraines are horrible. I believe mine is sinus related and I’m just walking around in a fog. I got some new allergy medications today and hopefully that will help. I haven’t even felt like sewing, so I am anxious to finish my bag I’m working on. I’d like to get that done in the next couple of days so I can post a picture of it!

Michael - I finally went to the doctor today, couldn’t stand the foggy sinus feeling anymore. I got some new allergy medications, I hope they work but it could be a few days before I feel any change.

Thanks Michael, I hope the medication works too! I’m now on my second dose of the nasal spray and I did my first dose of the antihistimine this morning. I was also given eye drops which I haven’t tried yet. I was told it could be a few days before I can tell if it’s improving or not. If not, they’ll give me a stronger medication.

It sounds like you should definitely get yours checked out and maybe get something to get it under control. I hate going to the doctor, I just got tired of feeling like I was living in a fog! :-D
