My mom would be like your mother-in-law. We got her the most user-friendly phone and yet she could not grasp how to use it even if we have explained it to her over and over again. In my exasperation, I even said these rather hurtful words once: "I can't believe you are my ancestor." That was how close I was to desperation.

She learned to use it somehow, so she's more accessible now. Oh, and by the way, aside from this and a few other flaws, my mom is adorable :-)

Kelly - Sometimes I think my mother-in-law puts on an act, that way her children give her more attention! It just drives me nuts! I have to admit though, I'm not overly tech savvy myself, although, I can work most of the functions on my cell phone!

Wow. No, my husband's parents and stepparents are not at all like that. In fact, his stepfather is close to 90 and one of the biggest geeks I've met. That man LOVES gadgets! LOL My mom would have been like your mother-in-law, though... she didn't even want to have anything to do with the electric typewriter my dad bought one year!
