Four Foods on Friday

My favorite day of the week? Friday. My favorite meme? Four Foods on Friday

This is a weekly meme and if you’d like to participate, head over and give Valmg a shout out!

This week’s questions:

#1. What is your favorite food that is cooked on the barbeque? I love bbq ribs. I start mine out in the crock pot and finish them on the grill, I think that counts!

#2. What veggies, if any, do you cook on the barbeque? I’ve done corn on the cob, baked potatoes, red potatoes, and of course, grilled onions and peppers.

#3. Tell us a little about your barbeque habits. Who grills, how often, what months, etc. We use our grill all year long. When we have company, my husband does the grilling. If it’s just us, I’m usually doing the grilling. We use the grill at least once a week and more in the summer, it keeps the heat out of the house!

#4. Share a barbeque recipe. This is one of my favorite steak marinades.

Soak tenderized steaks in 1 cup Jack Daniels whiskey, preferably 8-10 hours. Place carefully on pre-heated grill. The alcohol may cause flare up, so be careful! A few minutes before the steaks are done, slather bbq sauce on them and finish grilling. Watch carefully so they don’t burn.

There was one time when I thought about doing corn on the cob on the grill. How did yours turn out?

Kari – I need to plan my meals a week ahead, I’d probably do a better job!

Valmg – You’ll be amazed at how tender whiskey makes a good steak!

Crafty Lady – There are a couple of ways to do corn on the grill, but the most important thing is to keep the kernels moist. You can soak the cobs with husks on in water for a couple of hours before putting them on the grill. Another thing I’ve done is to pull the husk back, brush on mayonnaise, pull the husk back up and then grill. The mayonnaise acts to keep the kernels moist.

Tina – Yep, I’ve married the “cool” grill man! Occasionally he’ll grill on the weekends just for us, but usually it’s only when we have guests.

Precooking them in the crockpot sounds like a great idea. Reduces the barbeque time, I guess. Hmm, I like that.

chili queen – Yes, crock pot lead to very tender meat and placing them on the grill is more just to sear them and give them the appearance of being grilled!
