Wordpress Themes

posted in blogging |

I am quickly coming up on the one year anniversary of this blog. In that time, this is only the second theme that I have used, I really fell in love with it because, while it’s not necessarily sewing related, it is my favorite flower, tulips.

Choosing your blog’s theme is sort of like buying a car, it says a lot about your personality or, in the case of a blog, it can tell a reader a lot about what your blog is about. Bright and cheery, business serious, dark and foreboding? They all let a reader know what to expect and can tell something about you, the author of the blog.

Every now and then I like to take a look at what new wordpress templates are available for my blog. There are so many free themes available for Wordpress blogs, it’s fun to look around sometimes. I haven’t a new theme for this site yet, but I did find an awfully cute theme, Tick, Tock, Tack that I will keep in mind for next Spring.

If you’re looking for a new free theme, be sure to check out www.topwpthemes.com. One of these days, I’m going to find that perfect sewing theme and that’s when I’ll make a change, probably not before then. :-D

I change my blog themes almost as often as I change clothes. LOL As you said, there are SO many of them out there! I can’t resist “trying on” all the ones I like. I’m pretty much addicted. LOL

Your theme is very nice. I admire it a lot. I have changed themes several times but i later felt it is really not a good idea. IT IS GOOD TO MAINTAIN ONE SO THAT YOUR VISITORS CAN IDENTIFY YOUR SITE AT A GLANCE. Moreover, as you said, there are very many out there. If one keeps on trying, it will be an endless venture…

Leigh – I must do something wrong, I think it’s too much work to change themes and reinstall evertyhing! Maybe I’m just lazy! :-D

Uncle Che – I agree, I think changing a theme too frequently can be confusing to readers, but then again, a blog should have an appealing theme and sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right one. :-D

I guess I just get bored too easily. ;) I actually really like it when I go to one of my favorite blogs and it has a new theme. Change can be fun! :)

I’m confused when you talk about having to reinstall everything. In Wordpress all you have to do is click the new theme and there it is. That’s assuming, of course, that you are using themes which are widget enabled. Widgets are the cat’s meow! lol

Leigh – I always end up having to reinstall all the badges and and things in my sidebars like the technorati button, RSS feed button, that sort of thing. Maybe I’m doing it the hard way?!
