Hmm. I am 45, with daughters 4 and 7, so that puts me in the same range, just a few years behind. Gotta keep fit.

"Hiking at 100" is my motto. Hopefully I'll be able to live up to it.

Ladyhawjcj - Well, I didn't say my treadmill was completely dust free! I was doing good there for a while, but I haven't been to good about exercising lately.

You sound like me and my husband. I am 50 and he is 51 and we have an 11 year old daughter and a 10 year old daughter. I have a treadmill too but I have to admit that mine is collecting dust. Having young children keeps you young too.

Ladyhawjcj's last blog post..The Proud Grandma-- Photo

Have you tried flax seed? My Dad turned me on to it. I like to grind it up and put it in pancakes and waffles. I also take flax seed oil pills each night before I go to bed. In addition to that and standard vitamins, I always take a fish oil pill each night. Preventative steps!

Moreover, I think having engaging hobbies (like sewing or reading or whatever) is a great way to engage your mind.

My last comment is on travel. As we get older (especially when we hit retirement), I think it is really important to travel to places you have never been before. REALLY challenge your mind with new thoughts and ways of the world. Staying active doesn't mean traveling around the same town in the same car each day. We need NEW experiences as we get older to tap into and develop new parts of our brains.

ack, you are not EVEN 50 yet, you look - 30 - :) I hit the big 45 next month. But I do believe that if we keep our mind busy, learning and whatnot, we stay young. My son is 13 so I know what you mean about that! Have a great week.
