Transform Your Home

posted in home |

When we moved into our home a year ago, a long list was created of all the things that needed to be done to transform the house and make it feel like our home. Some of the items on the list included painting, getting a few new pieces of furniture and some new wall decorations. I also updated some of the window treatments, some of which I made myself, so they fit more with our own style. Recently, I even updated my daughter’s bathroom buy hanging a new curved shower rod, new shower curtain and throwing down some new bath rugs. It’s amazing to me how the simple things like a new throw rug can really make such a difference.

The other thing that changed when we moved in was the fact that we got a dog. This is my daughter’s dog and it’s the first time in many, many years that we’ve had a dog that was allowed inside the house. The dog is not very big, and she’s very lovable and cuddly. Over the Christmas break she began sleeping with my daughter on her bed. I really don’t mind that the dog is on the bed, except for the fact that my daughter’s bedroom begins to smell rather doggy.

Mind you, the dog receives regular baths, but for some reason, when she sleeps, she becomes very warm and we equate the odor she gives off with that of popcorn at the movie theater. It also has a stale smell, stale popcorn. I wash my daughter’s bedding regularly too, but it can be difficult to wash a quilt and comforter, they take more time and have to be line dried, so I don’t like to wash those items more than I have to.

When Renuzit TriScents offered to send me a free sample, I was all over it! When that sample arrived in the mail I ripped open the box, removed the plastic caps and placed the scented oil bottles into the plug-in air freshener unit. I then plugged it directly into an outlet in my daughter’s room and stepped back and waited.

Almost immediately the scents of Seaside Breezes began emanating from the unit. I was very pleased. A few hours later, when my daughter and I returned from running errands, she walked into her bedroom and I heard her say, “what smells so good in here?”. Then she realized I had received the Renuzit TriScents and had plugged it in. She really liked it.

We did both decide that the scent was a little strong though for a bedroom, even though I had the setting turned to low. We decided to move the unit into her bathroom which is connected to her bedroom. The unit is loaded with 3 harmonious scents and automatically releases a scent every 45 minutes. Set on low, the unit can last up to 60 days which means it’s a good value for the money with an MSRP of $9.99 and refill kits for $4.99.

To get you started, click here to get a coupon and get your own Renuzit TriScents starter kit. It has eliminated the stale popcorn odor from our dog and my daughter’s bedroom and it did it very quickly!

That smell is from your dog’s feet. She sweats through her paws when sleeping and flexes her toes while dreaming or stretching. It’s more conspicuous on indoor dogs because they lack dirt and other odors. I thought I was nuts because I love the smell of my dogs feet, but recently found out that other dog moms feel the same way.

If you are worried about cleanliness: I made about 10 pillowcases for myself and change them more often than the rest of my bedding in case my dog lies on my pillow.

That is so interesting! I had never heard that before and I can’t tell you how nice it is to know that there is actually a reason for that popcorn smell! Unfortunately, this little dog sleeps all over my daughter’s bed. She seems to move around quite a bit so I guess I’ll just have to keep washing all of the bedding. I can’t wait to share this interesting fact with my daughter, thanks! :-D
