One Person’s Trash is Another’s Treasure

One Person’s Trash is Another’s Treasure

My next door neighbor has placed a Little Tykes slide down at the curb for trash pick up.  I really want to go pick it up and take it to my niece who is just about 18 months old.  It would be perfect for her.

How would you feel if your neighbor took your trash?  I don’t think it’s broken or anything, I just don’t think they’re using it anymore.  I’m thinking I might wait until it gets dark and then go get it and put it in my garage.  I’ll be seeing my niece next week, so I could take it to her.

I’m just not sure how my neighbor will feel about it if she sees me with it.

We’ve put little tykes stuff out in front of our house when our girls were too old to play with it any more. Neighbors from down the road came and took the cozy coupe and then people just driving by stopped and picked up something else. It may be that they put it out there for someone to take. You could always ask them if they mind. I don’t see why they would. In our area any little tykes stuff goes fast.

I agree with the above comment from Lynn, If I put good stuff out and someone had a use for it I would prefer to see them pick it up. Recycle and reuse!

Lynn - I just don’t know our neighbors all that well, they seem a bit uppity. I don’t want to offend them, but I also hate to see good stuff go to waste. I know that when I’ve put stuff at the curb in the past, I actually have hoped that someone would pick it up before the trash truck came. Anyway, I haven’t gone to get the slide yet, I’m still debating it.

Jeannine - I agree too, I just wish I knew my neighbors better. I’m still thinking about it. I know that if I have stuff at the curb, I always hope someone will take it before the trashman comes!

Get the slide first, blog later!. A nice neighbor would be happy to know the toy was going to be well used.

I hope you got the slide, Lynne. If I were your neighbor, I’d be happy to see someone find a good use for something I can’t find a use for :)

Recycle reuse man…if it is on the curb it is fair game to anyone. I remember when my mother was cleaning out the house we grew up in before she moved and started putting things on the end of the driveway and it was all gone by the end of day just as we knew it would be. Makes less hauling and having to pay the trash people to pick it up because you know they will make you pay extra to haul big things away.

Grace - Somebody beat me to the slide. I guess that’s what I get for debating it!

Ellen - I missed out on the slide. I guess I thought about it too long and somebody beat me to it!

Carol - You’re right, I should’ve blogged later. Somebody beat me to it and the slide was gone when I finally put my shoes on to go get outside and get it! Oh well, at least it’s not in the dump.

blueyes - I agree 100%. I just should’ve been quicker about it! Someone beat me to it and the slide was gone when I finally decided to go get it. Next time I won’t debate it, I’ll just go get it!
