Four Foods On Friday

It’s Friday! It’s also my last day before starting 7 weeks of training, so I have a lot to get done today. First though, I just have to do my absolute favorite meme, Four Foods on Friday.

Here are this weeks questions and my answers:

#1. Share a recipe for something Italian. Well, I consider it a staple of our diet and we eat it probably once a week, spaghetti. Although I do occasionally make my sauce from scratch, I typically brown hamburger with onion and then poor on a jar of Ragu. I have recently switched over to whole wheat noodles and I really like them. The noodles are firmer and more filling.

#2. Jam, jelly, preserves, marmalade, fruit butter or butter. What’s on your toast or bread? I don’t eat toast too often, but when I do, I like it with butter and either strawberry jam or jelly.

#3. What’s your favorite Kellogg’s product? (Since they’re multinational I’m hoping everyone can answer this one. If you don’t have Kellogg’s products, what’s your favorite cold breakfast cereal?) I like the Kellogg’s Special K with strawberries. I like both the cereal and the cereal bars.

#4. Do you like liver? What about liverwurst? I do like liver and onions, although, I haven’t cooked it myself in many years. I ate it recently at a restaurant and really enjoyed it. I’m not a fan of liverwurst though.

    Hi Lynne,

Thanks for stopping by mine. I see it on your blog every week and decided to join in. I like the Kellog’s Special K with Strawberries too. I will get cereal just for “me” and different ones for the kids. But they will eat mine too, and I get mad - lol. Also congrats. & good luck on your job. That’s great. I’m jealous - lol. I’m going to try harder to get something like that.

You know I never thought to add onions in with the hamburger and jar sauce because that is what I do. I get the garlic and herb jar sauce and add a little sugar to it. Gonna have to add onions next time and maybe more garlic because you can never have enough garlic in my opinion.

Sometimes I add onions, sometimes I don’t, it really just depends on if I have time to chop some up or not!

I like the Kelloggs Special-K with strawberries so much that I tried to find dried strawberries in the section of dried fruits. Nothing like whats in the cereal box unfortunately.

I’m gonna have to try the whole wheat noodles now. I eat a lot of pasta & that’s an easy way to add something a little healthier to my diet.

I used to spend hours making my sauce, but Prego and Ragu are both good bases & so good if you fool around with them a little. Some of the things I’ve been known to add: onions, mushrooms, smoked sausage, extra garlic, a splash of red wine (wiht a pinch of sugar to avoid bitterness.) I haven’t done home-made in years!

skeet - I’ve been very pleasantly surprised at the taste and texture of the whole wheat pasta. I’m finding it in more and more varieties to, so it’s easy to make that change in my diet.
