Shopping for Fabric and Craft Supplies

Shopping for Fabric and Craft Supplies

I’m getting ready to head out the door to complete a long list of errands. I need to get things done today before I start my job on Monday. I’m used to being able to do things when I want, so I’m sure there will be an adjustment period of me getting used to my routine. Of course, once I get through the 7 weeks of training, I’ll be working from the house and so won’t have to contend with commute time!

Today’s to-do list:

  1. Post Office
  2. Get state inspection on van done
  3. shop for phone and headset for home office (required for new job)
  4. shop for backing fabric for the quilt top I finished yesterday
  5. shop for bead and buttons for my 12 Days of Christmas quilt project
  6. pick up some groceries

Of course, my favorite thing is shopping for fabric, and, I’m heading to a quilt shop I’ve never been to before, so I’m excited!  I managed to save myself some time by shopping for unique beads online and even found some wholesale gemstone beads at up to 30% discount, that I can use on my 12 Days of Christmas project. I’ll be sure to share photos later.

I’m off, lots to do, very little time!

Heading for the quilt shop again! I’m so envious of you. I only got 1 store in Singapore for my supplies. Life is so unfair.

This reminds me of my life before I became a fitness instructor. I used to have a full time clothing making business, and designing, cutting out patterns and sitting in front of a sewing machine was my life!
My favorite part was going fabric shopping. You can get so inspired by all of the beautiful fabrics, patterns and textures you find in there.
I plan to get back into making things this fall. I really miss it! ;)

Shopping for buttons, notions and trim was always exciting, too. Tell that to people that don’t sew, and they just don’t get it! lol

fatiah – We do have quite a few quilt shops in the Dallas area, I’m very surprised. I do have my favorites though and those become dangerous for my wallet!

I found myself hooked on fabric when I would go to all the quilt shops with my mom. I knew how to sew, I just never did it. One day I found a patter for a tote bag and I was inspired. I’ve been at it since and that was 4 years ago.

Jennifer – I’m busy, but nothing compared to what you do on a daily basis with 3 kids and a full time job! You must be a very organized person (or completely insane!) to be able to keep up with blogging too!
