Back to School and Back to Work

I feel like a kid in school and it’s my first day. Tomorrow is my first day back to work after a year and a half of being at home. I’m a little nervous, but not too bad. I’m looking forward to the training, it will really tell me if this job is something I want to do or not. In the mean time, I’ve been working on setting up my home office. After my 7 weeks of training, I’ll be working from home. It’s going to work out well because I’ll be working at the desktop computer in the morning and by the time my daughter needs to use it in the afternoon for homework, I’ll be done.

Before my daughter went back to school a few weeks ago we did some clean up and upgrades on our desktop computer. The program I need will be provided by my new employer, but my daughter needed Microsoft Office 2007 to help her stay organized and be able to do the more challenging work advanced placement classes require. CostCaptain.com is a Microsoft authorized education reseller that sells 100% authentic Microsoft products at academic discounts to students and staff of schools and libraries.  If you know anyone that could benefit from this software, you might want to consider giving them a Costcaptain.com gift certificate.

School is going along very well for her, so if I’m half as prepared for my new job as she was for school, everything is going to be just fine.

I have that package, one of them anyway, but it doesn’t have Microsoft Word! This is so frustrating, I thought Word came with computers in the first place and it’s needed for so many work-at-home jobs. Now I have to try to track it down without all the other programs, I don’t need the rest.

Kim – I plan to talk more about my new job later, after I get more time in and make sure it’s something I would recommend to others. I can tell you that I will be working on the computer, making hotel reservations, 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Karen – Thanks! It felt sort of weird this morning making myself a lunch and getting everything together. I wish you were here to help me get the computer stuff set up, the other adult in the house isn’t being too helpful. :-D

TMinut – I wouldn’t know what to do without Word! I do use Works occasionally too, but most documents are in Word. Good luck finding it, perhaps you can download it direct from Microsoft?

It is great getting these products at student discounts. My huband got Microsoft office really cheap at the University. I prefer the older Microsoft office, I guess I just need to get used to the new version.

Melissa – I’m terrible with change, especially when it’s software upgrades. I recently upgraded Firefox on my computer and I can’t figure out the new bookmark system! :-D

Good luck with your new job. I hope it works out. I’ve been looking for a job too. I would love a work at home job. I might not be able to be a SAHM for long. :(
