Four Foods on Friday #50

posted in home |

WOW!! It’s the 50th edition of Four Foods on Friday! Valmg at Fun, Crafts and Recipes has done such a fabulous job with this meme and it just continues to grow!

This weeks questions and my answers are:

#1. Pasta. How do you tell when it’s done? Do you cook on medium or high? I always cook my pasta on high and usually time it for about 10 minutes. I used to do a taste test, but got tired of burning my mouth on hot pasta! Now I just guesstimate that it’s done and go with that. :-D

#2. Deep frying. What kind of oil do you use? I don’t deep fry anything.

#3. Grilling. Do you grill on foil or directly on the grill? Most things I place directly on the grill. Smaller items like veggies, I will put in or on foil. Fish also works well on foil to keep it from sticking to the grill and falling apart.

#4. Share a recipe that involves cooking something two different ways.Example, for lasagna you might fry the meat and bake the whole dish Most any recipe that uses chicken requires the chicken to be cooked first. Tonight I’m making chicken noodle soup, using a mix and adding the chicken. I’m going to cook the chicken breasts first, after cutting them up into bite size pieces, and then add them to my soup mix. It’s a Bear Creek soup mix I do believe.

If you’re interested in participating, head over and give Valmg a shout out!

I don’t deep-fry either. I used to try fried chicken a long time ago, but it just came out soggy. I did make some great fried shrimp, though. But fried food and Weight Watchers don’t mix!
